Sounds good to me. The man has been the face of the franchise for 7 years, I think that he deserves to retire on his terms, and at five million I think we can handle his injuries.

I'd be all over a 3 year, $15 million deal.

If I'm the Jazz I wouldn't sign AK for more than 3 or 3.5M per year and not for more than 2 years (after that the Jazz sould re-evaluate AK's situation).
AK's contract proved to be a death mammoth, and it directly or indirectly affected Jazz chances to keep players that would have been huge positives for this roster (Matthews, Korver, Brewer, Maynor...).

That said, probably they shouldn't sign any dude until they know if there's some chance for a 2011-2012 NBA season to actually happen...

My guess is he goes to a contender. He's got his money, he wants to play for a winner.

I'd love to have AK at 5 million a year. I think he would thrive not having the pressure he had the past 5 years.

5 is good. It's not over paying for a vet with his credentials and value to the community.

Value to the comm i'll give you, but what has he accomplished?

he is a former all star (lets be serious, he was up and comer and never lived up to the hype)
playoff appearances (non factor, if he could shoot or score we may have advanced past a SAS)

The only thing I will give him is that he is a pretty good passer for his position, and he understands the offense.

I would much rather see him go to LAL or OKC and watch him suck on those teams.

It's pretty clear that getting AK at 5 mil. per would be a steal. I think you do it just for the sake of having someone as talented and valuable as him around for cheap. 5 mil. for 3+ years would be amazing. You keep a solid player for cheap until you need to dump him and by then he will be great trade bait.

I even heard someone on the radio say something about 3.5 mil. per being a possibility.

I don't know the cap issues, but he's a guy whom I think should be here.

These may be my personal feelings and bias, but I dont want AK on this team.

I just dont think he brings anything to the table apart from his passing , he is very up and down.

If we could get the AK that played @ NJ on russia night for 60 games a season then I would find 5 mill acceptable, if not just no.

I'm about at this - maybe a bit more with a team option.

5 Mil? That's awesome in my book. In fact that's cheaper than I thought, so extra good.

Would love the Jazz to keep him, I know he misses 15 games a season or so, but I'll take it with all that he brings.

I'm not biting at this point. It all depends on whatever else you are able to do as far as the draft and free agency. AK hasn't been consistent enough. How many years did he want at at $5 mill?

Yes! Sign him. He gives us so much flexibility, understands offense, and helps the defense. More than anything, I would want him to teach players how to defend on the perimeter, get weakside blocks, and execute an offense. You want that kind of veteran when you are about to become one of the youngest teams in the league.
In '03-'04, Jerry Sloan coached the ESPN predicted "worst team of all time" to 42-40.

Let's go back in time and trade him for Marbury. We'd be complaining that the Knicks pick sucked and arguing how far DWill, Booz, Brewer, Maynor, Korver, and whoever else isn't around, just to justify this one lethal contract that DWill had figured out the moment he walked in the door.

AK is my favorite player but as the season approached its end I've been thinking that it would be best to let him walk. For 5 mill however I would change my position.
