I just finished reading it, and I would strongly recommend it to anyone who is a Jazz fan, is interested in business, or who has ties to Salt Lake City.

The story about how he acquired the Jazz is crazy. If it were not for him and Sam Battistone sticking their necks out there big time, the Jazz would have definitely left Utah. The team was literally minutes away from being sold to some business investors who were going to ride out one more crappy year in Salt Lake, then take the team to Miami.

Sam Battistone could have done that for more money, but instead he sold half to LHM, because they both wanted to keep the team in Utah, even though the team was losing money.

The book also talks quite a bit about his relationship with John and Karl, and other interactions with Jazz players. Building the Delta Center was also an interesting story.

The book does get into church stuff a bit (I had to pick it up in the LDS section of Borders), and of course his car dealerships and other business ventures.

Anyway I enjoyed it a lot, thought other Jazz fans might want to check it out.

my mother in law bought it for me a few months ago, i read through the introduction and haven't touched it since...been meaning to read it for a long time, maybe i'll jump back into it.

He bought the team on my birthday, I remember hating the Jazz before then. Things turned around pretty quickly after that. If they put it int he spiritual book sections then it better explain to me why seagulls being in utah is a freakingmiracle, maybe they are hungry birds for example no one ever thought about that.

doing some extensive reading on seagulls, turns out their diet consists of small rodents or insects, and they prefer to live near sea like, preferably salty bodies of water.

So please explain exactly how you DON'T see how a bunch of seagulls in salt lake city eating bugs out of a corn field is a miracle, okay bro?

These birds forage in flight or pick up objects while swimming, walking or wading. They mainly eat insects, fish and eggs. They also scavenge at garbage dumps or docks. They may follow plows in fields for insects stirred up by this activity.

A description of their diet is no kind of explanation, for example, fastfood garbage is not included and should probably be first on the list, fastfood is everywhere so why aren't they everywhere too, explain that.

If you're going to attack Larry, perhaps you should skip the Mormonism aspect of his life and go straight to why he decided to eschew a healthy lifestyle for pastrami burgers and the to-hell-with-everything diet that led to his early demise as a diabetic.

everyone dies, he died doing what he liked, more power to him.

was he hurting anybody when he died, no? what's your problem, he did good things, he left a testament despite the fact the world isn't perfect, you think some cockashimy religions are? whatever he did for his religion isn't being taken away from the fact of how he died, wake up.

i liked the book. it was more religious than i thought it was going to be. it talked about why he stopped going to church, why he started going back, and how he feels since going to church more regularly.

i don't recall any seagulls in the book or anything about their diet. unless there were any seagull mascots for his softball teams. i don't remember that part.

i enjoyed most where he talked about how everything fell into place for him to purchase the jazz. seemed pretty close to it not happening but it did. i also enjoyed how it illustrated his competitive nature especially during his early business management days.

My problem is you bringing up the pioneer/seagull miracle as if it has anything to do with LHM. If you want to stick it to the Mormons, why don't you find an appropriate forum to do so?

Toole isn't that bad, at least they have a racetrack there that's really nice lol.

Honestly I would hate to think of Salt Lake without him. No Jazz, no Bees...it would be a completely different place.

It was a great book, inspires you to work harder, and he has done alot. I cant believe 8 years after he purchased his first business he purchased half the Jazz. He didnt have the money for that.

It was also great to hear that the detroit piston owner called mark Cuban a spoiled brat who got lucky.

All I'm saying is it doesn't sound like a book that belongs in a spiritual book section, but u r right the jokes taste is questionable. However, now that I think about it, if I wanted to find the book how would I find it unless it's in a book section for mormons, a topic that I didn't bring up and is questionable to begin with. I'm just saying, if I have to go into a mormon book section to get the thing it better explain to me why seagulls are a miracle in utah, is that better?
