Eric Maynor

Man, Maynor played really good tonight with some much needed threes for the Thunder, 12 points in 12 minutes, should be getting more minutes than Sefolosha, but man, what a mistake by KOC to get rid of him, guy could have been a key contributor to the future of the Jazz, wish we had kept him. Just a random thought after watching the OKC game.

Jazz saved 10 mil by trading him. Way more than he's worth. It was a very good trade.

Agreed. Loved Maynor's game, and was very upset when we traded him, but hindsight being what it is, the financials can't be ignored.

Financial mess was also KOC's mistake...but hey, lets praise him for a trade that solved a problem he was also responsible for!!

Mistakes happen. I wasn't praising him anyway. Just saying that in that situation, that's what had to happen.

Let's also nit pick only his mistakes, and avoid giving him his due credit for all the right things he's done. You're probably a Hayward hater too huh?

Quite a big one, as I recall. Not sure how he's felt about him lately, though.

I think it might be time for you to find a new team. We all know LHM gave AK the max contract and knew of financial struggles to come with Boozer and Memo but wanted them anyway.

I think its time for you to realize we are the UTAH Jazz. Utah. Small market team that struggles to allure free-agents and must keep great players by drafting them and overpaying them down the line if they are good, or tossing money at good players and make them forget that we are the UTAH Jazz. Kirilenko was putting up incredible numbers the season before his extension and certainly looked like a game-changing impact player that we could build around. Little did we know that he would be crippled with injuries and he would lose all confidence with the arrival of Deron and Boozer. The Jazz will always have to overpay to bring people here. Always. And more times than not, it will look like a bad deal in the end (Kirilenko, Memo, Boozer, Bell). But it has to be done if we want even try to create a competitive team. Stop hating and realize that we are the UTAH Jazz.

What are you even talking about? If you read the thread and realized what your post said then you would agree with the Maynor trade. It opened up some money to keep players around. Boozer and Memo were worth their contracts IMO. We did go the WCF with them so I am not sure what your point is.
Hindsight is worth millions and AK earned his contract. I never said he didn't, but his contract was LHM doing not KOC. Bell's contract is not a back breaker and could possibly be moved this summer. Also saying that freeing up $10 million vs keeping Maynor was a bad move would then go back to your hindsight argument so really the point is moot.

You guys go ahead and continue to support KOC and see how it feels to root for a team that wont be in the playoffs for the next decade.....

I hated the Maynor pick, the quicker we got rid of him the better off we were

Maynor was a great fit for this team. Great pick. I was sad to see him go.
Everyone always brings up the AK deal, but you don't have to look that far for why Maynor was traded: just look at the other player in the deal. Harping's deal in 2006 was too long by at least a year: something many people said at the time. Just goes to show that those extra years on contracts can really bog a team down.

But Maynor was not a "Great pick", far from it

Seems like the Jazz have been off by one a few times. But at least Maynor was not as big of a mistake as Koufos.
20 Eric Maynor
21 Darren Collison
23. Kosta Koufos
24. Serge Ibaka

Maynor is a solid backup but he will never be anything more than that.
Would you guys rather have Maynor or Watson?

Watson's great for a backup, but Maynor would fit better with the direction of our team.
