Bring in Adelman

Jazz should demote Corbin and bring in Rick Adelman, he was just let go by the Rockets. He has had that team overachieving the last couple of years.

I would prefer Adelman as well BUT the Jazz are committed to Corbin so the decision has been made and Adelman will not be taking his talents to Salt Lake City.
Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

If the Jazz dont get Adelman, I wont be purchasing my league pass next year. I have no desire to watch Corbin fumble his way to a 30-52 season.....

What has Adelman achieved that Jerry hadn't? Most the same people who constantly b*tched about Sloan, are the same people who want Adelman. Some people are just so determined to hate the Jazz and criticize every move they make, or don't make. How about ya just give Corbin a year and see what he can do? Things were already looking a lot better the last few games of the season. After a summer working on his gameplan, I am expecting some nice changes. Give the guy a chance.

Agree completely with all of this. I don't think Ty is going to pan out, but I'm happy to wait and see.

Are you saying you'd be disappointed if Corbin remains coach and the Jazz win 45-50 games?

I added up all the minutes that G. Miller (both of them) and KOC have spent discussing Adelman as a possible head coach of the Jazz. Here's the total.

0

Now the fans on the other hand have spent lots of minutes talking about Adelman as the head coach because the fans are involved in a different game. It's called fantasy basketball.

Sacramento was a fun team to watch when Adelman was coaching. I wouldn't mind giving him a shot. That being said, I don't think Corbin has been that bad. He did eventually start playing the rooks after all. I'm happy to give Corbin one full year to see what he's got. And if he sticks around long enough he'll start to be qualified for the job! Lol.

Um, yeah. Adelman for assistant coach works for me, but, lets go ahead and give Corbin a full year to see what we have. I think he'll be ok. He's dealt with a crap load of injuries and stepping in half way through the season and by my eye a team that is outmatched night in and night out talent wise. So, all those things considered I think he's doing well enough to earn more time.

If we start next year with Hayward not starting Im going to be calling for his head though. In fact, if Favors isn't starting by the end of February I'll be calling for his head.

But right now, I think we just need some more talent on the team and some fewer injuries.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

I'd be pleasantly surprised.

I dont hate the Jazz. I think the Jazz giving Corbin the reigns and not signing a more experienced, proven guy like Adelman is a mistake. I want the Jazz to improve. Somebody asked what Adelman accomplished that Sloan hadnt....well...Sloan was a helluva coach. And Adelman accomplished just as much (2 finals appearances) with less (no Stockton or Malone....had Drexler and Webber instead), and did alot of beating of Sloan's teams in the playoffs to boot.

Just look at what his Rockets team did to the Lakers in 7 games with NOBODY a few years ago.........

I just want what's best for the Jazz. I know the Deron trade was needed. I know Sloan couldnt coach forever. Just be proactive and make moves that make sense is all I am asking. If that makes me a "hater", then I guess I'm not familiar with the true meaning of the term......

It will never happen and shouldn't. Jazz need fresh blood, and Corbin is fresh blood.

Corbin is anything but fresh blood. He's been sitting on the same bench he is now for the better part of a decade........

From Scout.com:
Tyrone Corbin becomes head coach of the Utah Jazz after serving as an assistant under Sloan since the 2004-05 season. He becomes the seventh head coach in Jazz history and the fourth head coach since the franchise’s relocation to Utah. Prior to the 2010-11 season, Corbin ranked second in voting for the NBA’s top assistant coach as selected by league general managers (behind only Phil Johnson). Corbin joined the Jazz after spending the 2003-04 season as manager of player development for the New York Knicks. Prior to his stint with the Knicks, he spent two seasons as a player mentor for the North Charleston Lowgators of the NBA Development League.

Corbin has paid his dues over the years but that hardly makes him 'old blood' per se. Even though he worked on Sloan's staff for 6 seasons, he is a very different coach than Sloan. (see AK's recent SportsBeat interview).

Adelman would be good if we had a vacancy. So would a lot of other coaches. But the Jazz don't have a vacancy.

This. Corbin is a definition of fresh blood in a lot of ways. Sure, he served under Jerry, but he has his own style. He has had no time and no consistency to be able to change much. Give him some time with healthy players to do what he can do, and then pass judgement. He is also younger and has more prospect of longevity with the Jazz, something this organization obviously feels is important.

Getting handed a team that had just experienced its highest level of disarray since coming to Utah and not doing well with the time left in the season is a silly reason to fire the guy already. Frankly, it would set a terrible precedent and undo a lot of the reasons why the Jazz are such a respected organization around the league. We would be no better than Minnesota/GS/Wash/and the other perennial bottom dwellers that love to play head coach round robin.

Here's another news flash. This team wouldn't be making the playoffs next year with ANY head coach. It is going to take some time to get back to winning consistently.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I don't think the playoffs are out of reach for next season. It would probably have to be as a 6, 7, or 8 seed, of course, but I think it's achievable.
