Bring in Bogut or Crawford

Post#1 » by zachjazzface » Fri Apr 22, 2011 3:52 pm

These are two guys who I think could really help our Jazz become a much better team. Bogut for his inside presence and blocked shots and Crawford can be a great scoring two guard. What are your thoughts?

Why stop at Bogut and Crawford? Hell let's bring in Dwight Howard and Dwayne Wade.

No thanks, Sheen gets in foul trouble a lot and Jesus' jumper is inconsistent.

Jesus is old but I still think he has a year left. Remember the world is not suppose to end until 2012. As for Sheen, he is too much like Rodman thus doesnt fit Utah Fan requirements of being a good citizen.
Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

Look, there are two types of posters in this world, those who post like holytoledo, and those who don't. So far, we only had one poster stick around with posts like this, and it's holytoledo himself, this young man should be thankful he's getting this much help at this young of an age. A lot of us had to figure it out on our own.

IMO, the jazz board is one of the few readable boards on rgm. Because we enforce a certain standard of thread with our endless razzing and tomfoolery.

While Crawford would be a bat fit, I think bringing Bogut in is a great idea. Of course, its the HOW that is the hard part. Usually guys like Bogut go through a cycle. First, they are the potential savior. Then they are the rising star. Then they're a building block. Then they are an unappreciated star and "if we could just get (insert type of player the team doesn't have) then we'd be set..." Then they are into their prime and the writing is on the wall that they aren't great enough to carry a contending team. Then they get traded, their team moves into rebuilding mode and the player in question finds his place in the overall hierarchy of the league, usually becoming the 3rd or 4th banana on a playoff team.

Bogut is going through this right now. Best case, that team is a 6-8 seed that gives one of the top teams in the East a run for its money. But if Bogut was on the right team (like....well, the Jazz) he could potentially be the 2nd best player on a championship caliber team. He needs another big guy that can run PnR and score, and defend the PnR on the other end. Then he needs a guard who can distribute and create shots, and that's the core of a great team.

Bogut would be a dream scenario. He will be coming on the market in a year or two. It would behoove the Jazz to have assets in place to acquire him. I think he's a guy you can win with.

Great summary of a trend I'd noticed as well -- and thought about specifically with respect to Bogut.

This is a move I'd love to see the Jazz position themselves to make with the likely surplus of young assets and draft picks they'll have in the next couple years.

I remember my first post....ironically advocating the signing of Jamal Crawford in 03-04.

Wow my first post didn't go quite as planned! But its all fun. I guess what I would really like to know is what would the Jazz be willing to give up to make a trade with the Bucks to get Bogut?

His injury history concerns me. Games played:

2006 - 82
2007 - 66
2008 - 78
2009 - 36
2010 - 69
2011 - 65

The lack of games played makes me not want him much at all. My guess is that the Bucks value him more than we would even given his injury history, so I don't know that we would be able to come up with a deal that they would be willing to go with.

Memo's expiring and C.J. or a non-lottery pick?

I don't know if we want to tie up that much money every year in a player that gives you 60ish games a year like we did with AK.
