Bring back Deron?

Post#1 » by carrottop12 » Sat Apr 23, 2011 3:56 pm

So I've been thinking about this, and assuming the jazz don't aquire a max contract player in a trade this year, and don't make any significant signings on fa, is there any chance the jazz bring Deron back next offseason?

Assuming everything goes as we hope and the jazz get 2 real contributors in this years draft, favors and Hayward both continue to develop as planned, and we still end up with one, and possibly 2 top 10 picks in next years draft (supposedly the deepest since the James, Wade draft) is there any chance we bring offer Deron the max next season?

I don't see the nets being able to bring anyone in via trade, they just don't have any good pieces, if Deron decides to bolt the jazz may be the best option he has. We'll have a young, yet extremely talented core, with memo and ak coming off the books we'll have max money, and Deron knows the city, coaches and environment.

You'd have a team with a core of Deron, favors and Hayward, and then four lotto picks, I don't think any other team in the league other than possibly the clippers is able to offer that kind of lasting potential. You could have a dynasty.

What do you guy think? Unrealistic, possible, would you want Deron back?

Tempting. I so miss Deron, but I think I'll pass. Unless he's the one who initiates it.

I just think Deron is an extremely rare talent in the league, and when you get a chance to have a guy like that on your team you go for it. My guess is after next season the league is goingto be wide open, the spurs, celtics, and lakers are going to be toast, they are simply too old IMO, I see no reason why the can't be right there with okc and Miami as a league power.

I'm with you in recognizing that Deron is a top-tier talent who has that rare combination of skill and the drive to win. But, this past season is just too recent to ignore. There's still some bad blood between the Jazz and Deron. I just can't picture it ending amicably that soon.

But yeah, if KOC and Greg were honest with their reason for letting him go, then I don't see why they won't take him in again.

Deron Williams days in Utah are history; let him and his hysteric "leadership" to grow at Brooklyn...

While I would love to see D-Will back here in Utah I just don't see it happening.

Deron isn't the kind of guy who is going to forget about being unexpectedly traded away...he loves to hold grudges. I also think that the appeal of the big market teams are going to be far greater of a force than the familiarity and potential we have here in UT. Besides, he is going to end up playing with Dwight Howard and/or Kevin Love somewhere else.

Although I would be very interested to hear what his response would be if he was asked about potentially rejoining the Jazz in FA.

Deron will never comeback to Utah, even for the max contract.

I think his destination are NYK, Orlando or LAC.

I miss him too. But He is not the leader you wanna see at your team. So wish him very best again.

With him our highest stage is only second round.

Want nothing to do with this punk. Was beyond ecstatic to see him leave, and would be unhappy to have to cheer for him again.

Was that the team who made the finals three years in a row?

I can't remember. Also is the Western Conference finals farther than the second round, I can't remember that either.

Some of the idiots on this board blow my mind. If we have the slightest chance to get Deron Williams back, we do it in a heartbeat. Its not a question. The question is whether or not we have a SHOT to get him back. As for that...it's a long one, but possible. I think that if we present the best chance to win a championship, both immediately and down the road, he would re-sign with us....if we played our cards correctly.

He's got to have some lingering bad feelings due to being blind-sided. We'd have to address those right out of the gate in a way that doesn't make him feel like we're punking ourselves out, but that we certainly had no bad feelings and would have loved to have kept him. Next, we'd have to give him some assurances as to what our direction as a team is/would be.

If the Jazz had max room, the best supporting cast of any team pursuing him on the open market and the savvy to navigate the dangerous emotional waters that surround his departure from Utah, I think it could have a great chance at him.

Of course, those are big ifs.

Being a fan is an emotional exercise, despite your pseudo-intellectual outlook. Deron's very good at basketball, but I don't want to cheer for the success of a guy I don't like -- and his attitude isn't something to so easily dismiss from an "objective" perspective anyway.

As if negotiating such volatile bad blood and accusations of tampering were even a remote possibility. Why would the Jazz put themselves in that position? Why would Deron? Just to win?

Just face it: the events sewn this season were permanent. This wasn't Bell leaving for Phoenix. This was a divorce, and it was probably longer and more painful than we know. Deron is gone, and every time we see him he is going to take it to the Jazz with extreme prejudice. He's never going to play for the Jazz again. That's just the way it goes.

I love Deron. Love him. But... I kind of want to see the Jazz run by a non-dominant PG. I want to see passing and playmaking from the PG spot, and work on getting scoring from our wings and bigs. Harris fits this role really well, and I hope we hang onto him.

But, I wouldn't be mad if we did, I just like seeing something else.

Not happening, would love to have Deron back, but no way he is coming back because he was never even resigning, and I'm sure there's a little bit of bad blood probably between KOC/Greg and Deron because of trading him that unexpected. But I will miss seeing Deron in a Jazz uniform.

Deron will go wherever he thinks he has the best chance of winning. He's not going to pull a Melo and play for a gutted team in a big city so his wife can be on national TV sitting on the front row.

I'd gladly accept him back but I see about zero chance of it happening.

I don't love Deron. But, I'd be ecstatic to be able to sign him as a free agent. Or any free agent of his talent.

Any time you can add a top 15 player for nothing but cap space, that's usually a very good idea.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Pretty much. Deron knows the system, he's a great player. If you can add him you do it, if you can't you move on.

Are you seriously calling Harris a "pass first" point guard???? As far as bringing back Deron I would love it but I guess I'm in the minority as a DWill fan that had zero problem with him telling people what he really thought rather than being a robot....
