I'd much rather keep AK, but if we somehow can't re-sign him, how does Jeff Green sound to you?

I've always thought the three position for the Jazz is that of a utility guy. Probably because of AK and Harp in recent years and the systems's focus on a PG-PF core. Green can probably be that guy, not outstanding defensively as AK, but also gives length and has a better 3-shot.

Contract situation is that he's a restricted after the season with a $5.9M qualifying offer. The Jazz can move either Raja or Cj to make room for Green.

Or, how about Luc Mbah a Moute? More defense than Green but less offense. Plus he's a prince.

What do you think?

Jeff Green is most certainly not terrible. He's a very solid, versatile wing (though not as versatile as AK), with a high basketball IQ and a good attitude. He's not going to be a #2 or #3 option on a championship team, but as a guy supporting Hayward, Favors, and another bloke, he could be quite valuable for us.

Who knows what his asking price will be, though, or how much maneuverability we'll have in the new CBA.

At $5.9M he isn't.

I can't see Boston trading away their championship to get Jeff Green and then just letting him walk at the end of the season.

I have never been enamored by Green which makes the trade between Boston and OKC even more puzzling, but either way, I don't see Boston letting him go.

No, Green is just terrible. He's not even a serviceable 7th man.

... I guess there's nothing to really say to that. I think you're wrong, and I think it's obvious, but there's probably no value to debating this given our respective starting points, so all right then.

By a lot of advanced metrics, Jeff Green was one of the five worst players in the NBA this season and my eyes haven't disagreed that much with that assessment.

One of the five worst? Link to these metrics? As I said, I have never been enamored by him, but I never thought he was that bad.

I think much of it is because he played mostly PF in OKC. I'd be more interested in a breakdown of stats of him playing the wing. His BOS stats peg him at -2.5 as opposed to his -6.5 in OKC. That's a huge jump, imo.

And although a -2.5 still means he's not a great player, that's a whole lot better than Hayward's -5.8 or Harris's -2.9.

Hayward was a rookie that didn't get consistent playing time until the end of the season

I've always been a fan of the versatility he brings to the offensive end but he is really inconsistent. I also have my doubts about his overall defensive capabilities.

I wanted the Jazz to make a run at him in FA before we traded D-Will but with how the team is constituted now, I'm not sure if he would be the best fit. I'm also thinking that whatever team ends up signing him is going to overpay for him. I rather have AK at roughly 5 mil. per than overpay for Green.

We also don't really need another 3/4 guy, especially if we pick one up in the draft.

I think we could probably get a guy of greens caliber in the draft with the 12 pick (Morris, jones, Leonard) or get a cheaper option in someone like Ryan Gomes via trade.

mbah a moute offers little offensively but he is one of the best defensive players in the league. he can play multiple positions and guard the perimeter or the post. i would love to have that guy on the team.

I like Mbab a Moute's defense, but he absolutely murdered the Bucks' offense last season, he has no offense at all and teams have to play 4-5 with him on the court.
