Thoughts on Bogut returning to Utah?

Post#1 » by Buckfan76 » Sat May 14, 2011 3:32 pm

As a Bucks fan wondering if you Jazz fans would be interested in trading for Bogut? Us Bucks fans think you are one of the teams that could swing a deal for Bogut and Salmons or someone? Just Wondering. Throw some trade offers our way!

I would really like to see him come, but about the only guys that we have to trade for him are Millsap/Miles/Jefferson/Bell/Harris. If the Bucks want to rebuild that might not be the best combination. And we won't take a bad contract...the Jazz have done that once, with Tom Gugliotta, but I don't see them taking one that's more than two years long (his was an expiring).

I don't see the Jazz making a trade this year in the front court. I think they'll wait it out on the Big Al-Millsap-Favors rotation this season before making a move.

For the sake of argument though, would you take on Jefferson and Bell or Miles?

why everybody like Bogut so much?

I would never trade Al for him.
I think the only player from the Bucks that will make Jazz better is Salmons

Jefferson and Okur for Bogut and Salmons might be a good starting point.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

This trade is a year premature for both teams. The Bucks management will want to give all of last seasons moves one more chance, and Favors is over a year away from being able to carry the team offensively. We need Jefferson this year to anchor our offensive scoring. After this year we could look at it. Basically let Favors season a bit, let the bucks realize how weak they are offensively and then decide if a Jefferson/Favors tandem can help us compete defensively. If we still lack defense then this might be a trade for the future.

That would be a no brainer for the Jazz. People dont seem to realize that a healthy Bogut is the best defensive player in the paint after Dwight Howard.

We actually had a thread up earlier in the off season about this very thing. First of all, I didn't think that you all would be willing to consider any deals for the big guy. Secondly, do you think that your FO is interested in at least listening to offers for him? He's a player of interest in my book.

All that said, I think a deal for him would likely either hinge around Millsap or Jefferson. The problem is that Millsap is a better piece for a team that is ready to contend right away, whereas Al is a better guy to have on a team that is a ways away. To me, the Jefferson road seems to make a little more sense.

If that's the road we're taking, I can see a deal for something like Big Al, CJ and either this year's #12 or next year's GS pick (depending on timing and value) for Bogut and Salmons. That's a deal that I would be interested in.

The bigger question for us is how well Bogut fits next to Favors. They would be an amazing combo defensively, but on offense there will be some serious limitations as neither one possesses the ability--as yet--to anchor a team or to get a bucket in an isolation set/draw double teams. In order for a team featuring those two to have success, they would need to be paired with a couple of high scorers in the backcourt.

Being an Aussie I watch Bogut pretty frequently and I cant help but get the feeling that Skiles game style restricts Boguts offensive production. Do Buck's fan's agree with this? I think he would flourish somewhere fresh where he was given more opportunity to score.

What is this "healthy Bogut" you speak of. Is it anything like the elusive "healthy Kirilenko" or "healthy Boozer"? :eek1:

Bogut would be a lot better in a motion style offense. I can easily see him putting up 18p 12r 4a in Utah.

Guys, I posted in the wrong thread on Bogut. Didn't see this one.

As a Bucks fan, I wouldn't want Big Al or really any players coming back. If we trade Bogut it would be because we want a clean start with picks. We'd be interested in the draft picks you have 3/12.

Thoughts?

Barring major changes to the CBA (which actually could happen) you'd have to take some players back to make the trade work salary-wise.

Bogut for Okur/3/12?

Are there other contracts you want to drop?

No way would we trade #3 and #12 for Bogut. I like Bogut, but he isn't worth Brandon Knight or Derrick Williams and a possibility of a rotational player at 12 considering his injury history.

I really can't see the Jazz doing this.

I could see the Jazz looking long and hard at a Bogut trade centered around the #3 and Memo.

I don't think there's a player in this draft as good as Bogut.
