Kemba Walker vs Brandon Knight

Post#1 » by finnegan » Fri May 20, 2011 9:47 am

Walker's college stats are measurably better than Knights. I'm not sure if I buy into the concept that Knight is younger, therefore he has more potential. Deron was a Junior just like Kemba when he was drafted.

That being said, I would take Jimmer at #12 over either one of these at #3.

I'm not excited about any of those three for the Jazz. Jackson would be in the mix at 12, though. I don't see any advantages Knight holds over him at all.

Knight has much more upside as he could turnout to be the next Westbrook. He is a gym rat that loves basketball. He is also a clutch shooter. The only issue is that he is turnover prone which should improve with time. He is not a classic PG but those days are gone and now PG is a scoring position. Hay that sounds like Dwill! Draft him with #3!!!!!

I don't see the knight/Westbrook comparison at all.

But I'd still take knight.

It's like the CP3 vs. Dwill debate to me. Just about a toss up.

I think we can trade down and land one or the other dropping as far as #7. So, if we don't take a big at #3 I hope the hell we move down and collect more assets with one of these guys.

I will be seriously disapointed if the Jazz draft a PG with the 3rd pick....none of the guys in the is draft will be better than Harris IMHO and Enes,DWill2, Vesley would all be positions of need...hell I wouldn't even mind them taking a risk w/Biyombo.....

I think that at this point every position but PF is a position of need.

They aren't even in the same league in my opinion. If not for the leagues infatuation with point guards lately, Kemba wouldn't be considered this high.

A better question would be Kemba Walker vs. Jimmer Fredette. And even then, I take Jimmer.

I'd rather take Iman Shumpert later in the draft.

Walker is clearly better, it shouldn't even be a debate. Knight has no playmaking ability and is super raw.

I'm not a fan of either. Walker's best case to me is a Ty Lawson/Kyle Lowry type (love both players but I think that with the third pick you need to do better) and Knight is more of a Rodney Stuckey + shooting - penetration (again, we can do better). Everyone says that this is a weak draft, to me Kanter - Irving - Williams are a nice top three and I want one of them. I wouldn't be opposed to Valancianus, either; especially if he drops to 12 (that would be one of the best possible scenarios I could envision if Burks isn't there).

I don't think either Knight or Walker are an immediate upgrade over Harris. I fully expect the Jazz to take whichever of Kanter of Williams is stills on the board.

What if the Jazz trade something like #3[Kanter]/Millsap for the #2[Williams]/Webster/Flynn? Do you think they would bite? They get a defensive PF to backup Love who can play some SF too. They get make some cap room, and get rid of some of the clog at SG/PG. Webster and Flynn have team options in 2012/13 so they wont bother us for long if they don't work out. Flynn is a nice option for a backup PG and Jefferson likes him, maybe he would get back in form. We both get the rookie we want, they get their's a bit cheaper.

Favors/Okur
Jefferson/Kirilenko (resigned)
Williams/Miles/Evans
Hayward/Webster/Bell
Harris/Flynn/Jimmer?

It works in the trade checker.

Williams is not a better prospect than Millsap is.

Apparently 14 out of 16 people that have responded think otherwise.

This pretty much sums up how I'm feeling.

I have some faith in Millsap being a SF, but I'm not 100% sold yet. At PF Millsap is merely a backup from here on, we need to start Favors and Jefferson together, and they must get major minutes. Would you prefer Millsap playing major minutes at SF, and few minutes at PF or limiting the minutes of Favors to adding to Derrick Williams at SF? We can have a very solid lineup if pull a trade like this.

I don't see how getting Kanter helps, what does he offer that Favors can't? Favors has more length and could be our starting center besides Jefferson.

While I would love the better of Knight or Walker, everybody says that there are only two sure All-Stars in this draft, are we really sure that these guys are better than Harris? Harris also looked pretty effective before he got injured. Maybe we should give him a shot, not all championship teams have a perfect PG at the helm, and they succeed.

Williams is our guy, and the Wolves don't want him, we must go after him. If we can't land him, I would actually like to shop the pick, maybe for Iguodala and a future first? Something like that could be good for us.

I don't think Jefferson is part of the Jazz's future with his large contract and poor knees, I don't think Williams will be a SF.

Even though Walker is the better player right now, Knight has a ton of more potential at the next level.

Also, You don't take Walker at #3, period. You take Knight at #3 based on the potential alone.
