Should Al come off the bench instead of Millsap?

Millsap has been talked about a lot as 6th man, but he seems to be more of a flow of the offense guy whereas Al creates almost all of his shots. Al on the bench unit creating most of the scoring while other bench guys make up for his rebounding would seem to work well and there are few backup centers in the league who can do anything whereas there are quite a bit of decent backup PFs.

No way...we were small enough as it was this last season, you want to get smaller? Also, its been proven statistically many times now that you should start your best players. This is just an all-around horrible idea.

Weird, I actually agree with stevebozell.
Buy yes, this is a horrific idea, if millsap can't prove himself as a starting sf then his best positin is back up pf.

Why is it terrible? Al isn't a starting C in the NBA by most metrics and his inefficiency and blackholeness doesn't matter coming off the bench.

By what metrics? He's 6-10, has the standing reach that is in line with most centers, good rebounder, great scorer. He needs to improve his box-outs, but as-is he is a very legitimate center: and for those of you who think Millsap is a good defender at power forward, guess again.

I disagree wholeheartedly,
#1 Al is a starting center, he started for us 82 games last year
#2 Al is efficient, isn't he one of the most efficient scorers in the league?
#3 Blackholeness-what is this a racial slur?
#4 The bench is not where you put a double double machine, you start him and try to put pieces around him.

Jazz defense with Al on the court: 113.3 points per 100 possessions (For reference, this would easily be the worst defense in the NBA). Jazz defense with Al on bench: 106 points per 100 possessions. The Jazz offense improves when Al is in the game, but not as much as the defense falls off. I would say these numbers are a fluke except Al's teams have always been terrible on defense. A center that doesn't make defensive rotations isn't a good center and Al has proven that he can't defend PFs.

Haha EPIC
Al Jefferson is Utah's best option at Center. I believe Millsap would fit best on the bench as a 6th man similar to Manu or Jason Terry. Favors could be a place holder similar to Spurs or Mavs SG, where he gets decent minutes but Millsap comes off the bench and plays 28-32 mpg. Millsap also played much better off the bench where his energy was exerted towards being a gritty, tough rebounder rather than trying to be a scorer with the starters. His rebounding numbers have dropped the more minutes he logs because the guy is a hustle/enery guy and lets be quite frankly honest, guys like him wear down with the effort they play with.

I think we'll see al start to excel as favors grows. Look at what happened with zach Randolph after gasol came into his own. All of a sudden you couldn't double zach, and his defense became reasonable because gasol was so solid next to him.
Also, al really struggled to start the year, give him this season to see what he is like when he is completely adjusted to the team and system.
