Jefferson+Favors+#3 for D.Howard

My friend was telling me that the Jazz should trade the farm for Howard, and I was telling him how the Magic couldn't get past the Hawks with just Howard, so this would be trading too much. I rather try out a rotation of Jefferson, Favors, and Kanter/D.Williams over just Howard with an undersized Millsap. I told him if swapped Favors with Millsap, I would be more inclined to do it. I know Howard is a big upgrade on Jefferson, but adding the 2010 #3 (Favors) and 2011 #3? Hell Boston got Ray Allen for basically the #5 (Jeff Green), Wally (on the decline), and Delonte West!
What do you guys think?

Thinking about it a bit, I'm not going to lie it's VERY intriguing. Millsap could work with Howard, simply cause Howard is a beast on the boards, 4.5 more rpg than Jefferson. If Utah got just 4.5 more rpg we'd jump from 39.5 to 44rpg, which would be 3rd best! 26th to 3rd! Millsap would indeed have a lot less pressure on him too. I guess Millsap, AK, Hayward, Harris would be a better supporting cast than Howard has in Orlando. Still is it enough to make us title contenders? I mean the Magic had some talented teams with Lewis, Turkoglu, Nelson, Alston, and Pietrus (Finals team). That team lost 4-1 to the Lakers.

No, it's too much. Take out Favors and I play, but Howard is considered a rental since he will be a free agent.

Well it's pretty theoretical anyways, but lets assume that he agrees to an extension with us, would you? I'm on the fence, I think it places a ceiling, cause I don't think Millsap can be that much better at PF. Ofcourse Millsap was a monster before his injury. I think Jefferson can be a great PF next to Kanter/Favors, and he did pretty good at center last season. I think Jefferson's defense is improving a bit too.

I agree. Too much. Jefferson, Millsap and #12? Yes, but Orlando says no. In any case, we definitely won't be trading for him unless he signs an extension, and I don't think Utah would be among his destination locations.

I voted no. Then I started thinking about it. We have the 12th pick this year and should have 2 picks next year to replace the depth we lose trading 3 for 1.
Howard is 26 so has several more good years ahead barring injury. Great rebounder, good defender, decent offense, lousy free throw shooter. If he signed a long term contract, if AK47 came back, the starting lineup should be:
PF Millsap
C Howard
SF Kirilenko
SG Hayward
PG Harris
That's a darned good lineup. Add in the #12 pick, let's say Jimmer.
If Okur is healthy, and we keep our other guys the bench would be:
PF Evans
C Okur
SF Miles
SG Bell
PG Jimmer
Compared to the starting team at the start of last season we replace Jefferson with Howard
Replace Bell with Hayward
Replace DWill with Harris
I think better defense and rebounding with Howard, better offense with DWill leading the way.
Is it a wash?
Now let's see our Jazz without the Howard trade,
PF Favors
C Jefferson
SF Millsap
SG Hayward
PG Harris
If we draft Kanter and Jimmer the bench is:
PF Kanter & Evans
C Okur (Kanter if Okur can't play)
SF Kirilenko
SG Bell
PG Jimmer & Watson
I say better starting lineup with the trade, better bench without. Lucky we won't have to make a decision.

I think we'd have to give up way too much for Howard and also the contract issue.
The Jazz aren't going to rent him for a year.
They wouldn't rent D-Will for another year.

Would you do it if Howard signed an extension as part of the deal? Was Deron even worth keeping around? We might of made the 8th seed this season, not gotten a 1st round pick, and it's the same story over and over. Now we got some depth and lots of potential.

Its got to be an assumed that it would come with an extension. Of course, Howard would more than likely NOT re-sign. There is little motivation for him to sign with us versus the Magic (its not like we have an established perimeter superstar that would guarantee a chance at a title every year for the next half decade or anything like that) so that's why this deal is out of the realm of realistic possibility.
HOWEVER, if we could get this deal, the Jazz would jump on it without any type of hesitance. I don't think you guys have any idea what the NBA is about. Guys like Howard are the only way that you get a chance at a title. Even with Millsap(who would be an AMAZING fit next to D12, btw), AK, Gordo and Harris as the other starters next to him, we would immediately become a legitimate threat in the West.
It never ceases to amaze me how homeric some of the responses on this board can be. No one seems to understand just how **** hard it is to get a guy like a prime Dwight Howard. Every team in the league is trying to get a guy like that. Not only do the Jazz do this, but they would likely throw in Gordon and the #12 if it meant the difference between making it happen and not making it happen. Dwight Howard is the best rebounder, defender, shot blocker and interior scorer(meaning at the basket) in the league right now. If you guys had him on the team, and someone came in offering a package like this to US for him, you would laugh them off the board and send them running home to their moms. Yet when its a matter of us trading a bunch of $.10 chips for him, you sit there and hem-n-haw. It makes my head hurt.
Again, assuming an extension in place--which is the only reason we do it--this is a no brainer of the highest order.

koc was pretty adamant about sloan winning coty the year dwight came out. he blames sloan for not getting howard. it's almost as if koc stacked the team to tank and sloan got them to a game from the playoffs.
koc loves howard. if he could, he would.

No way I do this trade. We would bail out Orlando for the mistakes they have made and completely hamper ourselves for the future. That is was too much to give up for Dwight. He can't do it alone and that trade basically asks him to. Even if he signed the extension there is no way I am giving up that many assets. Maybe Jefferson or Favors + #3 but not both.

If Howard agrees to sign an extension, is there anyways to not agree to this deal? It's like the Melo scenario for the Nets. Devin Harris/Hayward/Kirilenko/Millsap/Dwight would be a top team in the West and their defense would significantly improve with the Dwight factor. Lets not forget Jeremy Evans is also a capable back-up big, then we could get the effect where vets may choose to sign with Utah to play with Dwight. I don't know, it would definitely be worth it if Dwight agreed to stay. Also would be a big F U to Lakers heh

You are delusional if you think spotlight addict Dwight Howard would be willing to leave Orlando for Utah just as you are delusional to think Obama deserves a second term and isn't a puppet with the same
given agenda as Bush.
Dwight is LA bound. Utah should draft Valanciunas. Kid has Joakim Noah's motor with much more offensive potential. He also has the humble mindset and wide frame to put on enough weight to become a force in this league.

Yes, I'd do that deal.
Then again, what if we did that, and then Lebron demanded a trade to Utah? We'd be screwed because we already traded all of our assets. It's probably best if we wait to trade for Lebron, then just sign Howard as a free agent, and use the MLE on CP3.
