OT: Twilight Concert Series lineup announced

Post#1 » by DelaneyRudd » Thu May 26, 2011 8:48 pm

Pretty good names this year.

The line-up is:

July 14: Explosions In the Sky with No Age

July 21: The Decemberists with Typhoon

July 28: Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes with TBA

Aug. 4: Thurston Moore with Kurt Vile

Aug. 11: Bright Eyes with TBA

Aug. 18: Ghostland Observatory with TBA

Aug. 25: Lupe Fiasco with TBA

All shows begin at 7, with gates opening at 5 p.m.

I'm pretty excited for the Decemberists.

Thurston will be bad ass too, I've never seen sonic youth so this will be fun.

This year it's more well rounded. Last year had the madness that was Modest Mouse, but Lupe could get that big.

Edward Sharpe is a great live show for sure. Definitely looking forward to that, Bright Eyes, and Lupe!!

I usually get super-excited for these, but this year seems kinda meh compare to the last two-three years. I'm hoping some of those TBA's change my mind.

Well, the TBAs are openers but it's fun just to enjoy outside downtown with thousands of people. Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes puts on a good show, especially if you like to hippy dance.

That's the band that plays the song that makes me think Don't Think Twice It's Alright is on then I am disappointed because it isn't that song.

I guarantee that everyone here has a favorite artist who have chord/vocal progressions that are almost identical to something written before. It's not that big of a deal.

Elliott Smiths last show ever was in SLC. Hopefully it doesn't happen to his imitator.

The Decemberists are one of my favorites. There are some other pretty good groups there as well.

Anyways I'm not anti-Bright Eyes. I'm glad you kids aren't into the GaGa and Limp Biscuit like the other hooligans.

The Gallivan Center is having a few concerts this summer as well, but not any free concerts it looks like.

I was at that show. Both my wife and thought: "Wow, he looked really happy. He looked good."
