Utah is set to work out Norris Cole (Cleveland State), JaJaun Johnson (Purdue), Shelvin Mack (Butler), Markieff Morris (Kansas), Dallas Lauderdale (Ohio State) and Jeremy Tyler (Japan).

I'll try to keep this thing updated with who we have had in, and dates.

5/29

Norris Cole
Jajuan Johnson
Shelvin Mack
Markieff Morris
Dallas Lauderdale
Jeremy Tyler

Of the 6, Morris, Johnson, Mack and Tyler have a chance at being first rounders, though Markeiff is really the only one who the Jazz would consider at 12. The others are likely to be drafted int he 20-40 range. Wonder if the Jazz are looking at options to pick up an early second rounder.

5/31

Jackson Emery
mustapha farrakhan
Brady morningstar
Michael Stockton

6/3

Enes Kanter

6/9

Bismack biyombo

6/15

Paul Carter
Kemba walker
Jimmer fredette

6/16

Brandon Knight

6/19

Tobias Harris
Jordan Hamilton
Tyler Honeycutt
Paul Carter
Marcus Morris
Chris singleton

6/20

Marshon Brooks
Alec Burks

If Tyler's still on the board in the second round, you have to buy a pick to get him imo.

Someone will take a flyer on him in the first round. Johnson is interesting too.

The Jazz are scheduled to hold their first NBA Draft workout Sunday. Utah owns the Nos. 3 and 12 picks in the first round of the 2011 draft.

Utah is set to work out Norris Cole (Cleveland State), JaJaun Johnson (Purdue), Shelvin Mack (Butler), Markieff Morris (Kansas), Dallas Lauderdale (Ohio State) and Jeremy Tyler (Japan).

Morris is a possible lottery pick, while Tyler could go during the late first round.

— Brian T. Smith

KOC has already worked out Kanter and he's coming for a second look the first week in June.

It sounds like the Jazz are fishing late in the first round. The 12th pick could be on the move. Why bother working out the lower numbers unless there is some possibility of picking at that level. Sounds like Fredette might not be in the mix. Some of these guys are camp invites only. Uh, what camp?

Hopefully they'll look at Brooks and Jenkins. Mack I can see as a backup point guard. His shot bothers me. Morris--the Jazz don't need another power forward, but he is bigger than Millsap, and he could go as high as 12, but his brother is better. If the Jazz stay at 12 Alec Burks or Klay Thompson are better fist. Maybe they'll bring Thompson in also.

Tyler-- Maybe a 2nd round project, but you better be a strong coach. He' might be worth something in 3 years. Cole mid second round backup point guard at best. JaJuan Johnson another possible Millsap. Dallas Lauderdale--carries Millsap's luggage--may not be ready for deveopment league. Occasional help on defense only real positive, but there's no need to waste a draft pick on him. Invited to camp only along with Johnson.

There's always meat in the grinder!

Markieff really isn't bigger than Millsap. I'm not a fan of Brooks at all and don't see what he adds to the team. I don't think the Jazz need more volume scorers and ballhogs who don't defend and have come from teams that lose a lot of games, that isn't their issue in the slightest.

Brooks has very long arms and is 6'5" so he is a good size for SG. His FG% was very good. At Providence he had to shoot the ball and was told too. No other good players on his team. He's made major improvements in his game every year. He should play more in control when he learns NBA offensive schemes and is not a starter. In the NBA he won't be the best player on the team and that will change his game. For the pro game Brooks will have to improve his defense, but has very long arms gives him a big advantage, so his defense will improve. He'll make it in the NBA as an SG.

Markieff is an inch or so taller than Millsap. Similar body, but Millsap is stronger and much better on position play under the basket. I don't see Markieff as a real option unless there's a trade for Millsap.

Interesting that they would bring Jackson Emery in for a workout...

I think this might be giving an indication that someone on the roster is going to be moved (or at least attempted to be moved) for a late first rounder or early second. My guess is that those ESPN reports of Raja Bell being shipped out during the draft have some weight behind them. That seems to be the most logical fit...

Tyler is an intriguing prospect for sure, wouldn't mind trading into another pick to take a chance on him. He has everything that you would want in a prospect minus his horrid history but he seems to have really turned things around as of late.

Johnson is also a guy I've been really impressed with every time I watched him play so I'm glad they're giving him a look.

Mack is a winner and has a big body, not sure how he will translate to the NBA though...might be worth a gamble sometime late during the 1st round but I see him more as a 2nd rounder.

I also believe Jimmy Butler from Marquette is coming in with that first group. He is a guy I've really been impressed with as well...and I'm a sucker for players coached by Buzz at Marquette. Would love to see him picked up by us somehow...

I hope you are right and Bell is the trade. I can't see anyone giving up more than a late second round pick for him, if that. Tyler would be a good pick in the early second round where there is no big money paid out up front and he has to compete to both make the team and stay there for the longer term.

The problem is what to the Jazz have to give up and what do they get if they move down. If they take Kanter, then one inside guy, and it's probably Millsap, is the trade guy. If the Jazz can get a solid SG for him, then it's a good deal. The only problem is Millsap is the one tough player the Jazz have. The scoring volume and flexibility of Jefferson, Millsap and potentially Favors would be hard to give up.

They really need to trade Okur, Miles and Bell, but the market for them is probably poor.

The 3rd pick is shaping up to be Kanter or Williams. Williams would have to play SF for the Jazz, and he would have to elevate the consistency of his game to do that.

I just finished reviewing all the data from the combine, including the shooting drills.

Marshon Brooks is the man for the SG position. Huge wingspan for an SG. Wingspan is one reason AK is a good defender. Brooks can learn to defend given the arm length.

He really scored well on the shooting drills. It's hard for guys with really long arms to shoot well from outside of 15 feet. All his numbers looked good.

If the Jazz can get Burks or Brooks, the SG is looking much better for the future. Hayward will play the SG some of the time and one of these two guys can cover it the rest of the time.

It's just a friendly gesture. The Jazz did the same with Jaycee Carroll out of Utah State a few years back. It's mainly to give that player more credence for overseas play somewhere. They do it with all the Utah college players who are good, but not NBA good every year.

I'm sure Utah is looking to score undrafted gems as well.

Jackson emery means nothing, the jazz brought in Shaun green to work out a few years ago also, just a courtesy thing. I am sure the local schools help the jazz out too.

Glad the work outs start today though! Can't wait to start getting news back.

His shooting percentage is intriguing, most "only option" guys don't shoot that well.

So we've got another work out Tuesday with emery being the only confirmed invite, then to chicago for two days with kanter, then to Europe in hopes of catching vesely, biyombo, motiejunas, and presumably valanciunas.

I want to go.

I like Norris Cole if we can pick him up late in the first or in the early second.

Norris Cole kind of reminds me of Eddie House or Tony Delk. Could be a nice bench guy that could score is bunches.

Who has the better odds of making the NBA from tomorrow's workout? Jackson emery or Michael Stockton.

More political-roster-filling-invite- to-camp meat coming in on Tuesday. Nothing in this pile.

Players working out for Jazz Tuesday: Jackson Emery (BYU) G, Michael Stockton (Westminster) PG, Mustapha Farrakhan (UVA) PG and SG , Brady Morningstar (KU) PG

Just give Mike Stockton a job as the last $32K assistant coach, film watcher, towel boy, luggage manager, go with the Bear kid, and that will make John happy. Mike sure ain't gonna play in the NBA.

Who would have thought that the Jazz would go from having a racial counselor follow Frank Layden around in order to keep the peace to inviting the grandson of Louis Farrakhan to camp!

It would be ironic if Emery made the 15th pine sitter on the team and the Jazz passed on Fredette. Makes my day!
