Defense or Shooting?

What do you all feel is the bigger need on this team? I see these as the two biggest need improvement areas that must be addressed.

We saw throughout the whole season how no Memo or Korver or Matthews really hurt in that there was really no deep threat besides Hayward towards the end. This kills an offense that relies on spacing and opening up the middle for bigs to work. No doubt this team is in desperate need of a shooter or two.

As for defense, I still don't see a rim defender. Jefferson is not long enough to be that and his poor pick and roll defense means teams will bring him outside to defend the setter. Favors is long and athletic and a very nice defender already but we still need better interior D. But my biggest issue is perimeter defense. This team is in dire need of wing defenders who can get guys off the 3 point line while staying in front of them at the same time.

So I say the bigger need is defensive help. I couldn't stand it last year watching wide open 3's, or poor close outs so they get by easily, and then no rim defender there to make them pull up. This
League is all about forcing the offense to score from 10 to 20 feet, and we either allow paint shots or open 3's. It's gotta change before the Jazz can truly improve.

Watching these playoffs just makes me feel even more that when it gets right down to it top notch defense is what makes winners.

Interested to hear your takes.

Defense. For sure.

Build a great defensive team, add shooting later.

Sounds like if they are both on the board for us, we'd take Singleton over Jimmer.
