OConnor says Jazz are in "Remodeling" mode not "Rebuilding"

I was really interested in the interview, when Aldridge stated the Jazz are in "rebuilding" mode, and I was waiting to see if OConnor still thought the Jazz were going to "make some noise in the playoffs next season." He toned it down a little bit from his earlier remarks when they traded Deron, but I still think he is in denial about how good the Jazz are going to be next season.

I accidentally voted no. I meant yes.

Drama ruins teams. Utah had a lot of drama last year, and showed a lot of promise once the drama subsided. I think they can be a 500 team. They may not make the playoffs, but I do think they can win at least half their games.

I voted maybe.

We have a young team next year, but I remain optimistic. I still believe the FO won't trade any of Harris, Millsap and Jefferson and that they'll let them expire on 2013 while waiting on the young guys to develop.

That trio will hopefully win us games next season, whatever roles they may be in (bench/starter) or whoever they draft.

I think it is sad, because the Jazz could get some nice pieces for the future in return for Devin Harris. And especially for a Devin Harris/Paul Milsap combo.

For example, the Bobcats could possibly be willing to give up #9 and #19 for Harris, which we could use for Burks or Singleton and Reggie Jackson.

To me, the Jazz front office and new owner don't know what they don't know.

My problem with that is that you now have 4 rookies on the same team. Future picks would be more enticing to me. Plus Harris is still a young guy. So no need to hurry. He may return us more value as an expiring.

There are a lot of fans on this forum that should send in their resumes to the Jazz. Once KOC, Rigby and Miller heard what they had to say about game strategy, free agency, drafting and trading, they would be hired immediately.

I don't know how the obvious seems to elude so many GM's and owners in the league.

God I'm tired of people wanting more picks in this draft. We have 2 of the top 12 picks. We also have 3 rookies from last year coming back (Favors, Hayward, and Evans). We will have 5 players in their first or 2nd year, and you want to give up vets for more rookies in a weak draft? Hellllll No. Jesus lets just trade our entire roster and see if we can acquire the top 12 picks in the draft...that would be sick!

Agreed. 2 rookies on the roster this year is plenty. Fortunately they will be 2 of the top 12 picks.

I have said a half dozen times that the draft is a crap shoot, and that it is better to go for players rather than picks. However; I estimate that the Jazz will win 28-32 games next season, and if we give up Harris and another veteran, that will put us in the 18-22 win range. Either way we don't make the playoffs. Plus we get a very low pick in a draft next year that will be full of talent.

As a side note, I can't decide between Jimmer, Burk, and Singleton at 12. So it is a unique situation, where we could try to get at least two of them.

It shouldn't matter how many rookies you have on your roster unless you're competing for a title. The best way of rebuilding a team is by getting organic talent, aka using picks to get guys that will grow in your system. 1st rounders give teams cheap talent to build with over 4-5 years, and possibly more when you resign them. Utah had a 13 man roster last year simply because they couldn't afford guys and that hurts you in practice, especially when you get injuries. 4 picks also doesn't necessarily mean you'll have 4 rookies either. One or two of the picks could possibly end up being a Euro that they keep overseas.

+1

You can also have a strategy of drafting four with a long term plan of only keeping two, depending on who develops into the best players.

If we're going to trade vets for rooks, I'd rather do it next year.

I agree, next years draft looks more like a for sure thing. Plus I would like to see these guys get in a full offseason with each other. I want to see what Coach Corbin implements and who his Assistants will be. I honestly think the team will surprise a lot of people because I believe we do have a lot of talent on the team. As long as they play together we will be decent.

I think we should be in a rebuild mode. I would like to see us move a combination of Harris, Millsap, Raja and Memo to rebuild around our youth and give them more playing time.

Why wait for the christmas rush? Let'ts just start tanking now. Not only do we get another high draft pick next year, but with 14 rookies on the team, we'd have a great shot at rookie of the year!

I sent them a resume to be a writer for their crappy website and I got denied, if they don't like my resume then, they won't like it now, my resume consists of "prophetic vision and unexplainable powers" and "some people think I'm jesus", how the hellam I supposed to get a job sounding like a damn cracker.

Well, B-D as you've experienced remodeling jobs are hard to get. Sometimes just a minor change in wording can attract the right people's attention.

I think prophetic visionary is probably fine, but I would change the unexplainable powers to totally expected but sometimes unexplainable powers. I think this provides readers with more of a feeling that you are in charge of the miracles that seem to happen around you.

But be careful what you wish for. Being in charge isn't always a great deal. Just ask Jesus.

I wouldn't mind at all ifthe Jazz took this yr for develepment and got a very high pick next yr. Plus you may get that GS pick and could end up with 2 SUPER STARS!! Next yrs draft is going to be one of the best ever. It may rival the James, Wade, Bosh, Mello draft of 2003. Never have you had the best from 2 draft classes come out in one yr. I say swing for the fence and tank this yr and hope GS gets the 7-8 pick and your set for maybe 7-10 yrs.....

I'm all for a developmental year. I just want to see a lot of Hayward, favors, and whoever we see from 3 and 12.
