Jazz and Vesely
O'Connor was watching Vesely today who's team won the Serbian title with Vesely scoring 18 points on only 9 shots (Vesely did go 2-6 from the line with 5 turnovers though). Chad Ford tweeted that Vesely could be the pick at #3. I like him more than Knight and more than anyone who will be available at 3 other than Valanciunas, I just hope that the Jazz start playing him at PF after a year or two at SF.

Some days I just don't know what to think about your posts.
I am fine with you liking Vesely @ #3. I don't think that's a particularly good decision, but, ok. But, you want to draft Vesely to come in and play Favors position?

"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Re: Jazz and Vesely
It would be:
PF: Vesely (32 minutes), Favors (16 minutes)
C: Favors (16 minutes), Al or someone else (32 minutes)
Which I think is fine.

Vesely would come off the bench at SF. If he developed his 3 point and free throw shooting he could be our SF of the future. If not, goodbye.
I don't think it's crazy if he goes top 5. Chad Ford seems to think he will.

AK47 is a PF and Vesely is way bigger than AK and Vesely's quickness is worse than AK's.

Re: Jazz and Vesely
Vesely wouldn't play much for the Jazz if he came over next year. He might get 10 to 15 minutes in most games, but that's probably all. And that might be all for 2 years or so until he improves his game.
In addition, he could potentially be a wasted Euro pick like Tomic or Rubio nearly was. The last thing the Jazz need is another Euro player they leave over there to develop and then they never show up.
Kanter is a bit of a gamble but the payoff is big. If he develops some defense, better footwork and block out positioning, he's going to be a really good player. Biyombo is an excellent choice based on his defense alone. He's a game changer. Mark Eaton was game changer and if he had not retired before the 97 and 98 finals the Jazz would probably have two banners in ESA.
The other player the Jazz need is Burks. They need his kind of scoring from the SG position. If the Jazz got lucky and got Biyombo and Burks, within three years they would be 2 or 3 deep into the playoffs. Vesely, Fredette and Knight aren't going to do that for them. Kanter might.

AK should've been a PF. Sloan seemed to disagree. Hopefully the same mistake won't be made with Vesely, if that is who the Jazz select at 3. I am a big Vesely fan. However, selecting him at 3 seems like a real reach. His ceiling doesn't seem to be as high as the other top 5 candidates.

Is he better than Evans?
Big, long, athletic, skinny, can't shoot?

Has the potential to be better, but he likes the same ally-oop passes, etc.
Biyombo jumps like Evans but is 40 plus pounds heavier. He has really long arms, defends the basket like Mark Eaton, rebounds, and draws a lot of fouls rather than committing a lot of fouls. In terms of development, I give the edge to Biyombo. I think he's more likely to wind up a really strong game changing player. Vesely is athletic and likely to develop better shooting in a couple of years. I just think Biyombo could have an impact on the Jazz almost immediately by adding strong defense in the paint. He might actually get to stay on the floor. Vesely is a farther out contributor.

Re: Jazz and Vesely
I've always been a big fan of his but I'm not sure if he is worth the #3. He has terrible FT shooting numbers and I'm not sure if he could play the 3 spot in the NBA. He is more of a PF like...AK should have been. I just don't know if we should draft a guy who is going to end up being AK 2.0 when we could just re-sign AK...
I like him though. I think he would be an interesting pick. A stretch of a pick at the #3 but I wouldn't be mad if they did.

This. There are a lot of guys I'd rather pick at 3. Now if he's still there at 12, maybe.

Vesely is 232lbs and has shown the ability to put on a lot of weight
Evans is 196lbs and hasn't shown the ability to put on weight
Vesely can play PF whereas Evans can't. I still think Evans can be a good SF eventually though.

I don't care about being to thin anymore after Kevin Durrant. If they have talent it doesn't matter if they aren't the typical position size. Mansap should have been example enough. They said he was too small to play PF and not quick enough for SF, but where woould he have been drafted if they had known where he is today? Give me a "player" any day over someone that fits the prototypical mold.

i think he has a lot of upside. Im still hoping Williams falls to 3 but Vesely is a better pick than Walker but I prefer Knight over Vesely bc Knight wants to be great and is a gym rat. Im ok if we pick vesely at 3 and Jimmer at 12.
Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

I wonder if the Wiz would be interested in trading up for Kanter. I still believe you take BPA. If he isn't the player you want, you try and work a trade. I feel Kanter at 3 still has more value than Vesely at 3.

Re: Jazz and Vesely
I just don't know what vesely does that keeps him on the court. All I've seen of him are videos of him dunking, but they pretty much all come in transition.
Everyone in the NBA can dunk in transition though. Does he create these transition opportunities? Does he defend ther perimeter well? He obviously can't shoot. What does he do other than dunk?

The FT% is really troubling. Very few guys have been stars in the NBA shooting ~50% from the free throw line, and Vesely doesn't look like Shaq or Wilt.

Yeah, I don't get it either. Based on what I've heard, he's a 6'11'' small forward who's super athletic, but can't shoot, can't handle, can't defend (I read on DX that teams isolate him all the time) and doesn't rebound as well as you'd expect a guy with that kind of size to. That's what we want from our small forward?
