Jazz Draft Party details

Post#1 » by Matt007b » Sun Jun 19, 2011 5:09 pm

Did not see this posted anywhere, if it's already been posted I apologize.. sadly I have to work :( but I'll be listening closely on 1320.. wish I could go, it's free.

Jazz announce 2011 NBA Draft party

The Jazz will host their annual draft party Thursday at EnergySolutions Arena. Doors open to the public at 4:30 p.m. with the draft broadcast beginning at 5 p.m.

Fans who attend the party will have the opportunity to watch the first round of the 2011 NBA Draft on the EnergySolutions Arena jumbotron as well as receive live Jazz draft updates throughout the night. Jazz forward Jeremy Evans will also be on-hand signing autographs, and the Nu Skin Jazz Dancers and McDonald’s Dunk Team will be performing. Jazz broadcaster Craig Bolerjack will emcee the event.

The first 1,000 fans through the doors will receive a special edition 2011 Jazz NBA Draft t-shirt. Everyone in attendance will receive a draft guide, a raffle ticket for the chance to win one of four great prizes and a voucher to shoot a free throw on the arena floor for an opportunity to win Salt Lake Bees tickets. Prizes for the raffle include official game-worn Jazz warm-ups, autographed merchandise, a Salt Lake Bees Suite for a game and two VIP tickets to a 2011-12 Jazz game. Additional contests with prizes will be held throughout evening.

Party attendees will also be able to tour the recently renovated Jazz locker room and have the opportunity to get their pictures taken with the Nu Skin Jazz Dancers and Jazz Bear in a photo booth on the floor.

In addition, 1320 KFAN will be broadcasting live from EnergySolutions Arena beginning at 3 p.m. Jazz radio voice David Locke will be providing live reports from The Prudential Center and will have exclusive interviews with the new Jazz draft picks following their selections.

Food and drink concessions, Jazz Fanzz merchandise and 2011-12 Jazz season tickets will be available for purchase.

The Jazz currently holds the third and 12th picks in the 2011 NBA Draft. The third selection marks the highest Jazz position since selecting Deron Williams third overall in the 2005 NBA Draft.

The draft party will conclude once the first round of the 2011 Draft is completed.

I might go, I don't have TV, just internet. I do like watching both rounds though.

I may drop by for a while--at least until the Jazz picks are done. I'll try to juggle the schedule around....

In all seriousness do they usually sell beer at these? I don't know why they wouldn't but you never know.

Grabbing my computer, getting a bite, throwing the wife out, nerding out in front of the tv for two hours with my good friends at realgm and twitter. Wish we had a second rounder to keep me a little more interested, but I'll still watch the whole thing.

So the only thing you can get to come over and sit in your lap on draft day is your computer!

Oh, well.

I went last year, and after about 2 picks, I decided screw this, my couch, my fridge and TV are the place to watch. I got home a few picks before the Jazz took Gordo.

However I'm really considering going back this year. With the 2 picks and the whole Jimmer circus, it could be really interesting. Also, I'm sure the beer stands are flowing, the Jazz do like making money ya know.

I'll be there. I'm heading down about a half hour early...I've been too excited for too long to not waste my whole night down there.

The last couple years when they've done this it's been really fun.

I'll trade you spots. You are close enough to Vegas for a night trip, but far enough that it won't get old.

I think you're probably right. Hopefully it will be the beer of celebration and not of consolation.

I'm just really curious to hear the crowd reaction to Jimmer. My predictions..

A) Jimmer selected before the Jazz pick 12 - A loud collective groan followed by decent amounts of people clapping saying thank God. Also predict KOC to feel major relief.

B) Jazz pick anyone other than Jimmer with Jimmer on the board - Instant Boo's. Also in this scenario I predict a Jimmer chant to ring out while the Jazz are on the clock.

C)Jazz pick Jimmer - Huge cheering from the crowd with a few selective Boo's.

What a F'ing circus this dude has created. I really think Jazz brass hopes he is gone before they pick. Takes a lot of pressure off them.

If the Jazz pick Jimmer I'm dumping my beer on Max Hall's family.

Another Scenario: Jazz pick Jimmer. Lots of cheering from the masses of Jimmer lovers and groans from the Jimmer haters. Jimmer lovers saying "in your face," Jimmer haters considering cancelling their season tickets. Then KOC gets up and announces a trade involving Jimmer to Sacramento and the scene reverses.

Sounds like great fun. A circus is certainly more interesting the the boring normal.

:( In that case I'd be out a beer for no good reason.
