1) Best player available at #3 regardless of position then Best player available at #12 so long as not the same type of player at #3 (so no we are not picking both Walker and Jimmer) otherwise not much in the interview. He also seemed a little discouraged to me regarding Memo's status and says it is currently unknown until he gets back to Utah in early July.

JAY, everyone who I have spoken with who have spoken with Jazz people say Knight. Everyone one of them. Kanter is intriguing. Maybe intriguing enough that someone wants to trade up for him.

Frankly I'm glad he does things this way. I think it protects the Jazz org. It's funny to joke about, but in reality I am glad he does it this way because other teams could swipe someone we would want at a spot if he opened his mouth.

I am kind of bummed that Knight is the projected pick. The kid is going to be good, but as a fan I just watched us take a PG at #3. We had some great years, but we were missing that low post presence. We may have that in Favors, but 2 big guys never hurt anyone. Well if they want Knight #3 is where they will have to get him. Toronto won't pass him up, but maybe the T-Wolves go with Kanter and we end up with Derrick Williams.

Who is your pick at #3? Is it Kanter? I don't think anyone sees him as a low post presence do they? I thought he was more of a faceup guy. Also, there are a lot of question marks about him. He could be great, but if KOC picks him it means reward outweighs risk.

I just think the consensus is Knight is the safest pick.

I will be happy seeing Knight and Burks/Hamilton on the team.

However, Biyombo stock is dropping, so we could end up getting him at 12.

I just think that with Favors, Hayward, #3 this year, #12, and the two lottery picks next year if Mark Jackson doesn't screw us (I don't think Jazz make the playoffs next year regardless of what we do this offseason) we will have a TON of assets to be a contender in a few years, a real contender, not just competitive.

I see what you mean but if you look at our roster now we have a low post presence. The best rotation we have is our bigs right? So if you look at it from that point of view why get better where we are already best? why not get better where we are weak?

The questions is, is there a distinct separation between Kanter and Knight? I say no you might say yes. If the Jazz dont think that there is much to separate the two then they will pick knight without a doubt in my mind because he covers a need. but if in their eyes Kanter is much better then they will pick him. If they do pick him there will most likely be a trade IMO. Whether it is Al, Paul or even Kanter I know not.

As to your "PG dont win championships" that is when the PG is the leading scorer on the team. I think the Jazz are banking on Hayward and Favors to take most of the scoring load in the future but it definitely does not hurt to have a PG that can be your second or third best scorer.

If you actually listen to the post-workout interview with KOC he says a lot. It's quite a good listen and made me appreciate how well he does his job. I admire the way he operates. If you want some insight into how KOC thinks and how he approaches the draft, I highly recommend giving it a listen:

It also sounds to me like he and Corbin aren't on the same page. Corbin talks about evaluating players based on how they can contribute right now and talks about drafting for need -- whereas KOC seems to be all about drafting the guy who will be the best player 2-3 years from now. I think Ty's showing a little bit of insecurity about his job here. Or he's just blathering on for no good reason:

I imagine that KOC has instructed all involved to say anything but something that will tip their hand. Hence all of Corbin's platitudes. There's no way the Jazz aren't aware of the game going on out there to extract that info. I'd bet KOC and Corbin are a lot closer to being on the same page than not.

After watching last year's Sporsbeat with Walt Perrin and this year's, it seems like they don't really get on the same page until their war room meetings a few days before the draft. Last year Perrin said that he hadn't decided yet who might be the best player when he was speaking of the wing position. This year he seemed a lot more confident than others in what he thought about Kanter (although he didn't say what really what he thought, only that they have a lot more film than people think and they have been watching this guy since he was 15), and he said they were still trying to determine if Brandon Knight might be the best pick. He seemed a lot more hesitant on knowing what he thought about Knight than Kanter.

I think they all have their ideas and have talked about them, but that they take all of the information they have, lock themselves in the war room, and come out on the same page by draft night. Of course, trades will always throw a wrinkle in the best laid plans.

It sounds to me that if they all feel that Knight is the PG of the future, they go with him. If not, they may pick Kanter and trade him, or keep him and trade someone else. If Larry were still around he might have let his emotion push us toward the local guy, but I think Greg and Gail will leave things mainly to KOC to decide what he thinks is best for the team.
