Superb Brandon Knight Video

Watch this video, yes it is against inferior competition in Auburn, but it is a good example of how Brandon Knight plays. This is the kind of video that gives you a hint of what Brandon Knight might be if he reaches his potential in the NBA.
Watch the first half, honestly it's a blow out by the time you reach halftime so there isn't a lot to learn in the second half, but you can see a ton of good things in the first half. Brandon Knight is clearly the best player on the floor, he controls the tempo, and really dissects the defense pretty much at will.
http://www.secdigitalnetwork.com/SECVID ... -Game.aspxThings to note:
-He dominates the game with his passing, both from the perimeter and on the dribble drive.
-He clearly has NBA range, hits a couple of three's from very deep.
-Ball handling looks good, he throws the ball away 3 times on passes, but they are easily fixable.
-Shows a good floater early, looks like he has excellent touch going towards the rim.
-Blow by speed, can really pick it up when he wants too, that will translate.
-Absolute control of the game, he keeps the pace to his liking, never panics.
-Understands a complex offense, you can see he can run a system like the Jazz run, very enticing.
Check it out, it will take you about 40 minutes to watch the entire first half but I highly advice it, if he can turn into this player every night, the Jazz get a stud.

Thanks God man you are here, i watch this season something like dozen UK games, and i was sure that kid have to work hardly on his passing and long distance shoot, but after your post im sure guy will be an HoF and we just have to take him no matter what.
Im just curious WTF you want to prove by posting that, kid is top prospect in this year draft and all peps know that, and to be honest thats all what is to be said, that dont change a think that he must work very hard to be even a good nba starter, cuz he is far from being pg finish project and same stuff with him at sg spot.

Your new name is eLOL.
http://www.secdigitalnetwork.com/SECVID ... -2011.aspxHere is another video of him in a tournament game. The first half is very average, only scores 2 points, has a turn over, doesn't look like he's trying to take over the game. Really he just controls the tempo, runs the system, misses some open shots, but looks solid.
Then in the second half he's doing the same thing until Alabama cuts it to a 13 point game at which point he goes nuts, scores 10 consecutive points on 4 shots in about 1:30 and puts the game away on a series of curl jump shots and a back cut that is flawless and then goes back into relax mode up 20+. Again, his passing looks just fine, he is always surveying the floor looking to dish the ball. He isn't a shoot first PG, he's going to have no problem as a true PG in the NBA.
I really want to resist making this comparison, but he plays almost exactly like Deron Williams. He will have no problem running the curls off the screens going right into a jump shot like Deron did, that will be his go to move early. Also, he has a quick release, and has three point range that I think he will rely on for a while until he learns how to finish at the rim against bigger guys. His back cuts look good, his speed will allow him to get some easy lay ups both in transition and in the half court. He'll also have no problem running the offense, he'll pick it up extremely quickly as Kentucky's system uses a lot of similar high screens and curls. His handles are also solid, that won't be a problem at the NBA level like some have projected, they aren't the reason his TO's are high.
He does need to work on some things, he needs to finish a little softer at the rim, he missed a couple of easy buckets that he'll make once he gets stronger, and he needs to work on his entry passing, he had two taken away because he went over the top when he should have been a bit more patient, but other than that I thought he was really, really solid.
He's the real deal, and he'll be just fine as an NBA starter, I have no doubts about that, and I think he has way more potential than people are giving him credit for. It'll take him a while, but if he wants it, there is no reason he can't turn himself into a top 10 PG in the league. I think he fits in perfect with the Jazz.
I really think the talk of Brandon being more of an SG has become a classic example of group think, a couple of people talk about it, it gets passed around until its something everyone is repeating and then it becomes a given even though it isn't really all that accurate. He definitely goes into scoring mode sometimes when his team needed it, but it was hardly his first choice. He's certainly not Devin Harris like some people have compared him too.

i really think he is the next Jason Terry (maybe slightly better) because he is more athletic. I watched the game and I was not overly impressed by him. He can shoot which is what the video actually showed.
The reason I will be happy if the Jazz draft him is because the kid is smart and a hard worker and worst case scenario he will be Jason Terry/Devin Harris level but I dont think he will be much better than them. A good player but definitely not a superstar. A borderline allstar player but definitly not DWill or Chris Paul or even Tony Parker.

Worst case is Jason Terry? Jet ain't chopped liver. I don't think it's fair to his talent to say he's an unproven player's "floor."

I don't see Jason Terry at all. Terry doesn't have the handles or the vision that Knight shows here which adds a dimension to Knights game that Terry can't match. I also think he's a leader, he looked like he had control over those games that Terry doesn't have in the NBA game.
Again, I'm not trying to get too high on Knight because he certainly has a lot of work to do, but I think Locke said it best when he said "Knight doesn't have to change his game to play in the NBA, he just has to get better."
I think that's the perfect description. He isn't a starter from day one, but he'll get there.

How about to show and talk with other Jazz fans about a player that more than likely is going to be a part of this team after Thursday? Maybe not everyone, like myself, has had an opportunity to see this kid play, and it gives us a chance to see his play and skill set in a real game setting vs just reading and hearing about it?
And I doubt anyone here expects him to come in and be ROY, or even be close to D-Will's level.
Anyhoo, I appreciate the post.

Oooooh, I'm excited to watch this. I'm low on Knight right now, but I've been wanting to see him in action, and not in highlight reels.

I think his assist numbers would have been a lot higher had his big men been finishers. Several passes in these videos are assists at the next level that nobody can finish on his team. Put Kanter on that team and you've got a 2 assist increase per.

yeah i agree. This was a really young team and it showed a lot. the good thing is that Knight didnt seem flustered but calm and he really tried to direct eveyone.
One thing i saw a few times that I did not like was he tried to push it too much. Like when almost everyone was down court and he would pass the ball ahead before he even crossed half court instead of bringing the ball across and setting up the offense. but that is definitely fixable. i like him.

Yeah, you definitely see the problems with him forcing the ball a little too much, its evident with his entry passes too. I like his willingness to push the ball, but he needs to figure out when to push, and when to pull back. That will come though, that's an in game experience issue, not a fundamental problem. His willingness to pass the ball is what I like most, I don't have any doubts about him being able to do whatever the Jazz would want him too as far as learning and running the system.
Now I guess we have to just wait and see if he is who we are going to take.

Just finished watching the first video. I have watched about 15 full Kentucky games and I hadn't seen this one, so thanks for posting it.
I agree with the things you pointed out the strengths and the things he will work on. They are things that can improve.
I really hope the people who have been knocking Knight will watch these videos to get out of the groupthink that you described. I think that is accurate. I think someone watched one tournament game, said Devin Harris and it stuck. I think it will be a steal and I am glad to know the Jazz will watch every game he has played and see who he is as a whole.
He has such better handles than he gets credit for. He is a great defender, he stays in front of his man and is able to contest a shot without fouling. When they try to pump fake he is smart and doesn't always bite. He really does have good vision and he looks to pass a lot and he makes good passes too. He shows in here his ability to make good passes. He is also a good shooter, which we have talked about in detail (46% 2P and 38% 3P). And like someone pointed out, I really like his composure and how he handles himself on the court. He seems to run the team and is a leader.
I really hope that the Jazz draft him. I think he is more promising than anyone we could get at #3. Can't wait to see what the Jazz do.

You can see his length is disruptive on defense, like his potential there.

Yup!
If we walk away from the draft with Knight and Hamilton/Burks/Singleton ( I like Hamilton most, I am probably on an island there but I just like him) I will be a very happy man.

well i was just little pissed of on @Bat cuz for me that post look some think like propaganda material, imo B knight ( which i personally like a lot, and i wouldnt be disappointment by Jazz picking him although i doubt we gonna do this) is not superstar in the making. I dont get why some peps contest so much those comparision to Devin Harris, both guys got great length for pg are more scorers then passers/shooters, both got solid def ( shame that with comparison to Williams no one notice that Brandon will by much better defensive player from the begining, but ok i understand that how some one could remember how slow footed/poor defender was Deron when he came to nba, lack of defens is only problem when it comes to Jimmer for some guys

). Even Knight him self said that he got problem with being pass first pg, but still you can heard crap like that
Bat wrote: He definitely goes into scoring mode sometimes when his team needed it, but it was hardly his first choice.
Man even Im not so "enchanted" by Jimmer like you are with Knight

-Dear eLol,
Please tell me where my original post crosses the line from analysis of that video, all of which I believe is true, to the point of propaganda.
-Thank, Bat

pleas homie Im not the brightest person so you dont have to make standards even lower

One is analyzing some particular video, second makes from that definitely claim of how good player is. I understand that you wanted to show what kid is capable to do on the floor, but saying on example of one game that he "clearly has NBA range" is just bending the truth.

He's had NBA range since he was a junior in high school, of all my claims that is the most sure fire bet.

Exactly. If you watch film on him, a lot, and I mean a lot, of his 3-pointers in college are from several feet beyond the arc.
