OJ Mayo

I really liked his game when I watched the Thunder Grizz series. I hear he is on the block. Would we have any interest in him? I think he could play sg for us. He makes some 3s and can handle the ball. He's also a pretty good athlete from what I've seen. What do you guys think? Sorry if this has already been discussed.

I would love it, SG is a big hole for us. And he can help spread the floor.

I would do Millsap + 12 for Mayo

Although i'm not sure Memphis would want Millsap with Randolph there.

I'd love Mayo on this team. I just don't know how to get him.

Why would we do Millsap and 12 for Mayo? his value is not that high. You could probably go straight up #12 for Mayo and Memphis would be more than happy to take it....

#3 pick for him would likely do it but it would be a gamble for the Jazz considering his past off the court. For the #12 pick you would have to do it. Millsap plus a pick is too much as Millsap for him is even.

#3 pick for him, talk about a reach. If I remember correctly mayo almost landed on the pacers for almost nothing at the trade deadline. Mcroberts and a first I believe.

Yikes.

I say the 12 and Millsap b/c we aren't going to be the only ones trying to get him. We'd have to give Memphis a reason to take our trade opposed to any others offered

Maybe the GSW pick and Millsap, or the GSW pick and the 12

Why not offer one or the other and then work up? I doubt that get a better offer than Millsap.

He's one year removed from 17.5ppg and 18.5 ppg his first two years in the league. If he had continued with starters mins this year and didn't mess up off the court, I'm sure he would have done better. And he's only 23. Who do we have now at the 2? CJ Miles? Raja Bell? Look how weak this draft is, is the #12 pick really that good compared to other years? If Jazz take Kanter at #3, would they not explore trading Millsap?

And if I'm not mistaken, he's still on his rookie deal which means he won't cost a ton.

IMO Millsap for Mayo is more then fair, but Memphis would probably try to get as much as they can.

We will not be getting anyone like Mayo with the 3rd pick. Definitely not the twelfth. He's just a good all around basketball player. He took it to the Thunder this post season when he had the chance to play. Those were big minutes too

not that we would be contending yet, but if you put mayo on this team, eased our log jam at the pf, and added some young talent through the draft both this yr and next, that would be the makings of a bright future.

Say we keep our #3 in a trade involving Millsap and Mayo:

PG Harris (28 yrs old) /Knight (19)
SG Mayo (23)
SF Hayward (21)
PF Favors (19)
C AJ (26)

Extremely young and talented

Right now, I'd rather have burks. Mayo is a bit of a nut case.

mayo is better than the best case scenario for burks

Have you even see Burks play? Lets stop declaring what best case scenarios are until we've seen him play in the NBA.

Mayo was the 3rd pick in his draft class, 08. Burks will be considered a reach if he gets picked top 10 in this mediocre draft class. I'm pretty sure Mayo as a prospect > Burks as a prospect. The jazz need perimeter shooters and Burks is not a shooter. Not only does Mayo fill the need at SG better then Burks, Mayo is proven. He's proved he can have an impact on a team, like i said he averaged 18 and 17 ppg his first two years. Do you really thing Burks will or can average that much? If you do, then you are alone because if others did then he would obviously be projected higher in this draft.

KOC should play a game of Bourré with Chris Wallace for O.J. Mayo.

As for his true value, I think it's diminished because he's a restricted free agent after next season. It's tough to trade for a guy in the last year of his rookie deal, especially going into a lockout.
