dont know if all this was posted but what do you guys think? I want Toronto to hopefully draft Knight/Kanter/Val so once again the Jazz basically control the draft.
tribjazz Brian T. Smith
Very interesting contrast between Kanter, Knight when asked about being drafted by and playing for Jazz. Kanter was highly optimistic and sounded sincerely excited about the opportunity. Knight appeared far less interested than he did last week right after working out.
asking whether Kanter to Jazz was a smokescreen
sam_amick Sam Amick
Hearing it from people with a good line to Jazz & no agenda
@tribjazz Brian T. Smith
Kanter on whether he thinks Jazz will draft him: "Yeah, they might. I hope."
what do you guys think is gonna happen? I personally believe all this Kanter heat is to force MIN to take him and allow D.Williams to fall into your lap. So their hyping him up hoping MIN scoops him up and if they dont i guess their content with selecting Kanter?
ill add a poll im just curious as to how split or sure your board is on #3. Ill try and update this thread too as more tweets pop up.

The Jazz are straight forward and I don't see what good it would do to smoke screen....the Wolves have the #2 pick and control the board regardless of what the Jazz do behind them. I don't see the logic in making it look like the Jazz are taking Kanter in order to get the Wolves to take him...why would the interest of the Jazz influence the Wolves pick in any way whatsoever???

because i dont think they want Williams and feel they can trade down to #4 with CLE to get Kanter there if UTA likes Knight at #3. Just guessing i just dont see Williams being a fit there.
ESPNEWS talking about draft right now with Chad Ford. Mentioned that Kanter might be the favorite between him and Knight to go to Utah. Mentions Raptors would be thrilled if Knight is there at 5.

I agree that the Jazz probably want Knight but would be happier if Williams fell to the Jazz so a smoke screen is a likelihood. I just dont think the Jazz would draft a shorter center when they have had that for several years in Jefferson and Memo. I cant believe we miss the days of Mark Eaton and maybe even Ostertag.

Mark Eaton was an out of the norm. The average height of an NBA Center is about 6'10".

Knight just doesn't want to play in Utah. Period. He declined a workout against Jimmer and Kemba, and before he even did end up working with the Jazz things were being reported and leaked out of his camp that he didn't really want to play in Utah. He was even asked about it at the workout which he denied. And then today, when Brian Smith interviews him, he's less then enthused about the possibility of playing in Utah. As good as he may be, I don't want anybody who doesn't want to play for the Jazz. If we end up drafting him, he's gone after 2-3 years, or it will be a D-Will situation all over again.
Take Kanter.

The Jazz are always tight lipped. There's no reason for them to be media whores. Their mysterious ways are making things more interesting.

NBAdraft.net tweets
We hear the Jazz will take Enes Kanter 3rd and Cleveland will take Jonas Valanciunas 4th. Knight goes 5th and Kemba could be the odd man out
David Locke tweeted
Definitely an increase in the feeling here in New York that the Jazz are going to take Enes Kanter rather than Brandon Knight

Don't like Kanter AT ALL. He has no lift, and I'm not sure his offensive game translates.
I'd take Brandon Knight over him any day.

Basically all Knight said is that the draft is inexact and he doesn't know what's going to happen. I think that's enough information to definitively conclude he simply doesn't want to play for the Jazz...Yeah, not really. I can't say for sure that he does want to play in Utah, but he has said things to that effect and I think you're reading way too much in to this, as well as the fact that he didn't want to workout with Jimmer and Kemba (why would he have wanted to do that again?). Sure, it would have been great if he had answered the questions about playing in Utah more enthusiastically, but I don't think it means much that he didn't.
Also, if D-Will did want to go elsewhere (which he probably did), it wasn't because he didn't want to play for the Jazz, but because he wanted to go to a better situation, so I feel like it's also a little bit ridiculous to use his situation as a reason not to draft Knight. D-Will was super invested in the community and the team and seemed extremely happy being here until things starting going downhill from a basketball perspective.
I think Knight's probably wired somewhat similarly, although he's probably not as moody. He's a competitor who wants to win, whether for the Jazz or anybody else. In sum, I don't think there's any substantial reason to believe that Knight doesn't want to play in Utah or that he wouldn't stay here if our young core develops the way it potentially could and starts winning at a high rate.

something else i thought of is what if its trying to make Washington throw in something more to move up? Rumors of a CLE/WAS swap (#4 for #6 + #18) well what if UTA is doing this (hyping Kanter) in an attempt to get Washington to throw more into the pot. Maybe a Jordan Crawford? Kevin Seraphin? Maybe a 2012 protected 1st?

2012 protected works for me!

Actually at the combine he measured a 33" vertical jump. That's only 2 inches less then Dwight Howard. No lift? You're wrong.

i could see it and you take Kemba at #6? Jazz would just stock up on 2012 picks. Having WAS + GSW + UTA is a huge haul for what appears to be a deep deep draft.

BPA I guess. Probably Valunchiwhatshisbucket. A tank year in that sense. Tank years are not the Jazz style.

While I believe the Jazz have Knight and Valanciunas under serious consideration at 3, I have a feeling they will finally go with Kanter (if he's there...).
This draft class will not make the Jazz contenders (not even a sure playoff team). If the Jazz are going to take a serious leap forward next season, they will have to do it with trades.
Kanter has (and Valanciunas too) more upside than Knight, who can be really great but has enough question marks to worry about picking him as high as 3. Moreover, Kanter's a better asset to have if you're thinking trades.
Just my 2 cents.

I seriously disagree. I think the Jazz can take a serious leap forward next season by just getting experience. If we hold onto 3 and 12, we're going to have one of the youngest teams in the league next year regardless of who we pick. I don't see us as a playoff team next year, but in three years I see the Jazz as being in a good spot at being atop the west again. It's just going to take experience and allowing guys the chance to gel, figure out their roles, and Corbin to get experience as well.

I think he meant "serious leap"' in terms of us being a playoff team, not that there wouldn't be meaningful development.

I think 15 and 20 developing makes us a playoff team. Harris and Al making contributions to their level too.

I just hope Williams miraculously falls to 3 and ends all the stupid drama.
