Jazz/Pacers Trade if D. Will falls to 3

Post#1 » by lonestar20 » Thu Jun 23, 2011 1:44 pm

Just wanted to get your thoughts on a trade if the T'wolves take Kanter at #2. Most likely you just select D. Williams and be done with it, but if you're open to trading the pick would something like this interest you?

Milsap
Harris
#3

for

Granger
Collison
D. Jones
#15

Breaks up the logjam at PF, gives you a good 2way SF (borderline all-star), a young promising point and a defensive stopper/rotation player. You could then select more guard help at #15 or package 12 and 15 to move up into the top 6 to get another player.

Pacers do this to get PF/SF depth and more youth to match existing core of Hibbert/P. George/Hansbrough. Not sure Milsap and D. Williams would complement each other, but I'd love to give it a try.

In the end, I'm not sure you're getting enough value and it seems you guys historically favor bigger PG's. So, while Collison is a good up and coming PG he might be a bit small for your liking.

Thoughts?

Not a chance...... I don't even know if I would trade the 3rd pick alone for Granger, much less throwing in Millsap and Harris...... And I'm not a big fan of Collison...... He didn't show much improvement last season.......

Yes where do I sign...

In my opinion, Williams' ceiling is Granger so why not get Granger (a known commodity) plus Collison. I guarantee Indiana says no. Face it, if Indiana offered Granger and a #1 pick Twolves then they would take it. Indiana never offers that much!

Because Granger is probably too old for this team and what they are trying to do not to mention the money.

I wouldn't do this.

Too old? Is there a Jazz imposed age limit? He's like 26 or 27. How is that too old? And this team if anything needs less youth and more NBA experience, which Granger could provide.

What is this Jazz team REALLY trying to do? I don't know and not sure many of us fans really do. Are they trying to go with a mix of youth and talent or all youth letting them learn on the fly? I am not sure yet, but do know no matter what I would like Granger around for it. He is a legit 20+ ppg scorer, team that with Hayward at the 2 and him at 3 and I like those wings.

I agree that if Williams turned into something like Granger any team that has him would be satisfied, so I take the known. One in the hand is worth two in the bush.

First of all, he's 28......

Second, he's shot 43% from the field the last two seasons....... Has almost as many turnovers as assists for his career....... And has 3 years and $40 million left on his contract......

If Williams is available at 3, I'd much rather have him for the next 3 years to see what he develops into, than watch Granger continue his downward slide.......

He is 28, like red said. The rest of the younger guys are 20-23. When they are in their prime he will be too old and will potentially take playing time, touches, and whatnot away from other players.
