Best Jazz trade I've seen all offseason

Post#1 » by franklin » Thu Jun 23, 2011 10:11 pm

This guy thinks Jazz should act on Chad Ford's Cleveland rumor.

http://www.jazzhacks.com/post131.html#p131

It's genius! Gives Cleveland EVERYTHING they could ask for. All Jazz have to do is promise to take Knight and leave Kanter for Cavs.

Could you imagine the Jazz being players in the Marc Gasol-DeAndre Jordan-Nene lottery? Gasol and Jefferson would be huge, and Jazz still keep the three pick while going way under the LT line.

That's a single season turn around in what looks like a multi-year process. KOC get it done!

Great insight. I hope your other 4000 posts weren't equally meaningless.

Yea, every player who will be available at 12 is better than Marc Gasol, Deandre Jordan, Marcus Thornton, and the other solid FA's. Gotcha.

You know what they say about arguing with stupid.

You really think any of those guys will sign here? Name the last Marc Gasol that made his mark in this league and THEN signed here as a free agent.

Do you have little town syndrome?

Name the last Marc Gasol that made his mark and was a free agent.

To answer your cliche, CARLOS BOOZER and MEHMET OKUR IN LESS THAN A DECADE!

How many All star games in those two? What's the last free agent to sign. LOL.

Am I a little down syndrome? They are called words and you read them left to right within a sentence, of which you also read left to right. So now that you know how to read, please re-read my question. Name the last Marc Gasol that made his mark in this league and THEN signed here as a free agent. You think the Carlos Boozer and Memo were on Marc Gasol's level when they signed as free agents?! If so, enough said... you truly must be daft.

You're delusional. You can't read me then scold me for not reading your words, clown?

Memo was borderline and everyone knew Boozer was too.

It's not my fault you don't have a grasp on basketball history like I do. Talk to you again in a few years, hopefully yours have dropped by then.

Ok. That explains a lot. You think Carlos Boozer's last season in Cleveland, and Memo's last season in Detroit were on level with Marc Gasol this year. Makes perfect sense.

I love it when people think they are smarter than professionals. Claiming KOC was stupid to offer a max contract to Boozer while simultaneously prying Okur from a Detroit who wanted him but couldn't afford him is comical. It's also below you so I doubt you are serious.

To humor you, we'll go numbers:

Gasol 2010-2011: 7.0 rpg & 11.7 ppg.
Boozer 2003-2004: 11.4 rpg & 15.5 ppg, and the every team wanted him. Nice comparison. Ooh, he was only 2 years in and plenty younger than comparable Gasol, BTW.

I'd tell you to give it up and save some face, but you should focus a little more on that little town syndrom for now.

Can you please show me when I stated that KOC was stupid for signing Boozer or Memo. Both great signings. Just saying that big time free agents don't sign here. I guess judging by how many big name free agents the Jazz have signed over the course of the franchises existence prove me wrong some how. So you win. Congratulations. I have to leave now. My short bus just pulled up and I still need to find my helmut.

Whoa dude kind of an embarrassing post you just made there, telling the guy he can't read and saying 'Am I alittle down syndrome'? When he clearly wrote, and you quoted him saying this ' do you have LITTTLE TOWN syndrome?'. Those are called words and you read them left to right...

I was saying the insane part was thinking cleveland was gonna use the TPE on memo just too essentially move up one spot. They could do a lot more damage with that TPE. Also 15 mil/yr for Gasol as Ford suggested is beyond laughable.

Are Boozer / Okur really examples of how easily we can attract free agents? Both those players were so flawed we had no chance of a championship throughout the Deron Williams era. Thanks free agency!

That's not to say we can't get useful players. But they have to be the 3rd or 4th best player on the team. Also, they both were 2nd rounders. So they weren't restricted free agents like gasol, etc. Hard to see us getting more than a fringe starter / role player in free agency, given our cap situation.

Where did you get that from? They would have gotten Kanter instead of TT and the 12th pick. The report was they were looking for more lottery picks. Nice try. Cleveland may not want to "do a lot more damage with that TPE". Next year's draft is loaded as is the FA class. There aren't a whole lot of impact players worth going after this summer. They're in no rush, hence the rumor of taking on an contract.

Please sight where Chad Ford said to offer Gasol $15 million. You're definitely not paying attention, but criticize regardless.

Gasol's value is questionable, but not wanting to pay for him is as laughable as it comes.

Now the argument against this is both Gasol is a higher powered free agent than Boozer was and Gasol is nowhere near the free agent Boozer was.

Thank you for putting extra fail into that one.

Hindsight analysis is nearly worthless. First off, claiming Okur and Boozer were flawed has no bearing on the premise. I'm not giving that silly diversion any extra energy. It's ridiculously reaching and baseless.

Boozer was a young stud and obviously worth taking a shot on. If you want to support the premise that acquiring big name FA's isn't possible in Utah then Boozer kills your argument like Strychnine downs rats. You may not like Boozer, but pretending he wasn't valuable--and by doing so claiming the entire Jazz organization followed by the entire Bulls organization in addition to all other teams seeking him in summer 2010 free agency know less than you--is as straw man an argument as they come. Jazz took a young stud and developed him into a max money demanding all-star.

Boozer and Okur weren't big names until they played for the Jazz
We essentially overpaid to get them here, Memo was mired deep on a championship calibre team in Detroit and Carlos I think only started to start half way through his last season in Cleveland.
I would say neither were A grade stars when we got them, our ability to land a big free agent catch is limited.
I think we even signed Corey Magette to an offer sheet, other than these 3 I cant think of any other 1st or even 2nd tier free agents the Jazz have got.
However we can always get a decent role player.
Dont expect any of the top FA this year to sign with the Jazz - unless we ridiculously overpay. See Jamal Crawford, i think he could be had with a crazy deal.
