http://www.indystar.com/article/2011071 ... 2/SPORTS04Just a heads up for Jazz fans the indy pro am is a summer league with a lot of good competition. It is held at IUPUI. I have been going for a few years now really fun every week.
I knew Gordon Hayward was gonna play but Alec Burks playing surprised me. This will be Alec first night playing. I will give an update how he does he plays at 6pm eastern time tonight. Alec was by far my favorite college prospect so i am excited to see him play tonight. I will post stats and my though on how well he plays. I hope he goes up versus Eric Gordon who is always fun to watch at the pro am.
here is the league website

Since the Pro Am doesn't publish box scores, you may be the only source for stats. Maybe they are published in the Indy Star.
Hayward is on Team Blue and Burks is on Team Orange. Hayward is just getting over an ankle injury so we'll see if he plays.

Well, we'll sure appreciate any stats you can provide. I know I couldn't do a good job providing stats, it's a very difficult job. I'll look forward to your thoughts more than the stats.

Alec Burks played last night had 17 pts and a few nice dunks. The kid has crazy good handles and great court vision passing ability. i wanted him so bad for my home town Pacers. I had him top 5 on my draft board. The reason being his weakness is so easily correctable all you do in practice in the NBA is shoot
Alec and Reggie Jackson are my 2 sleepers from this draft

It actually is more competitive than it sounds I know it is surprising. But they actually play defense lol. For it being free it is great to watch the only thing about it is most of these guys have never played together so they aren't very comfortable. They mostly just run PnR and try to drive and dish. I mean the defesnive level i would say is like NBA regular season ball(which isnt great lol) but they do try on both ends which is great too see. They also play NBA rules and have real NBA refs there. So it should help Alec understand the different calls you get in the nba from college.
It certainly isn't as good as the NBA or college or euro league. But i am a basketball addict and basketball is basketball lol.
Eric Gordon and DJ White are so fun to watch in this league because they have great chemistry from IU days.

Alec Burks is sick his pg skills are crazy good for a 6'6 pg reminds me of Dwade in that sense but he has better vision IMO. He made a few passes tonight that were just insane. But the good part about him is he does it in the flow of the offense and also makes the simple plays. He made 3 3pters tonight also. Him and Christian Eyenga had great Chemistry out there a few crazy ally hoops. He was my favorite prospect coming out and i am just glad i get to see him up close at the pro am. He looks to have the "it" factor IMO i am ranked top 5 pre draft and i hope he doesn't disappoint my ranking of him. He might be starting right away at the SG but who knows. He will take a few years to get a NBA body but the sky's the limit imo if he works hard he should be a beast. I will be watching more Jazz on LP next year.
Gordon again didnt play but he was there and did tons of interviews with the indy media.

Glad you like Burks. He was one of my original draft picks for the Jazz, but I didn't think he would be there at 12. The Jazz caught a break.
Done lots of pro-am's. Some are similar to summer league. Most aren't. I wouldn't go nearly as far in my expectations of Burks during his first year. If he weren't
sick his pg skills are crazy good for a 6'6 pg
in a pro-am I would be very worried.
Don't forget Morris Almond used to tear it up in summer league.
Whatever time he gets in his first year, I'm sure you like watching him.

I don't remember Morris Almomd tearing it up in summer league. Maybe he had some good scoring games, but I just remember being hyped about the pick until I saw him play a few games and then I wasn't hyped at all. For a purported shooter, he seemed to miss a lot of shots. Would have loved to see Burks in summer league. Would even love to see him during a regular season if we ever have one.

I agree it's just a summer league, but I also think that Almond and Burks sound like very different players. From what I'm hearing, Burks sounds like he has some very good NBA ready skills. If you are purported as a shooter from college, but can't shoot against even the weakest of NBA talent (bench teams) then you won't succeed. I'm hoping that Burks handles and slashing abilities and getting to the basket are NBA worthy talents, and it's sounding like they may be.

Happy Bday
It sounds like Burks has a very good handle....and can go both left and right with equal skill.
