What will your reception be of Deron when he comes back?
Question as stated in the title, will you give him a warm welcome when the Nets come to town, or will you boo and be pretty pissed in a similar manner to how Boozer was treated? Deron could have probably handled the situation better, but certainly wasn't anything to close to LeBron at all.

I'd boo Deron for sure. He's not on our side anymore. I'd boo Boozer too, even though I have no problem with him personally and he left in a very dignified manner. Once they're gone, they're the enemy.

I'm going to stand at the airport with a welcome sign like the Mormons do.

Boo the crap out of him. Boozer didn't cause and problems in house, coach killer DID. Your only problem with Boozer is that you think he faked injuries and sucks on defense (our defense was better with him). Coach killer's issues the final few months of the season are well documented if you followed the situation carefully.
Boo coach killer, do it for Sloan.

If it was so obivious, why did it take you two posts to get it? Your first one not funny enough?
Indifference... He isn't on our team anymore. I don't really care what happens to him.

Don't be a douche. Bat's point is that anyone who would actually boo Deron Williams doesn't have the first clue about being a fan of an NBA team. He's done more for this franchise than any player outside of the hallowed two, S&M, and people would seriously raise their voices to jeer and deride him?
Bunch of dumbasses.
Now, when he's playing against the Jazz I am not going to CHEER him. But I don't boo, say....Ray Allen or Kevin Durant. He's still a great NBA player and amazing to watch. He hasn't done anything to hurt me or my team, why would I boo him?

Why in the world do you take umbrage to booing a player on another team? Would you really be offended by someone booing Ray Allen? That's such a bizarre premise to me. You want the other team to play poorly and lose, don't you? Booing the opposing team/players is Home Court Conduct 101.

Wow, I usually like your posts, Erudite, but this is one of the more ridiculous posts I've seen in a while. I cheer for the Jazz, not any one player. Deron is now the enemy and will be booed thusly. That is what gives the Jazz such a great homecourt advantage. We are lound and obnoxious and boo opposing teams and refs into submission. I enjoyed most of Deron's time here, but I certainly don't feel like I owe him any kind of loyalty. He certainly wasn't going to show Jazz fans any loyalty when he hit free agency.
And to say that he hasn't done anything to hurt my team? Thats a pretty hard statement to justify, considering the cancerous presence he was in the locker room and the fact that he was setting the Jazz up to be left holding the bag rather than just being honest with them about his intentions.
So I say boo him loudly and often. Its what we Jazz fans do.

I'm with Erudite on this one. It perplexes me how people treat former players. I don't see how you can put all of your passion as a fan into a group of players without ever forming any sort of attachment to the players themselves. I mean what are you cheering for, really? The Jazz logo?? The owners?? No...its the players. Dwill was a damn good one for us. By far the best since Malone and Stockton. No reason to cheer him, but to boo is just plain stupid

It will be embarrassing to me as a life long Jazz fan if we boo Deron.
I appreciate what he has done for the Jazz.

I would clap for him when he's introduced into the arena.
But not during the game.

Jazz on your face.

The indignation here is truly baffling.

Exactly, you give a nice cheer before the game to say hi to an old friend, then during the game he's just a regular opposing player.

Re: What will your reception be of Deron when he comes back?
I'm just curious why anyone on this board would cheer Deron. Are you personally his friends? NBA players are mercenaries, plain and simple. He played for the Jazz because at first he was obligated and later it was the most financially beneficial thing for him to do. I enjoyed watching him play. He was the best player I have seen wear a Jazz uniform since the statues. The thing is, he doesn't wear the uniform anymore.
Its nothing particularly personal, but you can bet that I'll boo him. I boo all Jazz opponents, because it gives an advantage to my team.
I understand that a lot of posters on this board got emotionally attached to Deron Williams. I hope you understand that this sense of attachment was not mutual. Maybe I'm a jaded fan but after 25 years of watching Jazz basketball, I cheer for the players wearing the jersey. I might still enjoy watching them play against other teams, but when they play the Jazz, they are the enemy and deserve no mercy.

So when they show John Stockton in the stands on the jumbotron do you just sit on your hands? He's not a Jazz player any more. By your logic there's no reason to cheer him.

One, its not often a problem. How often does John Stockton attend a Jazz game. Two, I actually do give John a pass. A player who plays his entire career here gets an exception. A player who played his most significant years here and still participates in the community gets an exception (Hornacek, Harpring, Thurl). Had Stockton signed with another team, then when that team had played the Jazz, you can bet I would have booed him.
