Looks like the haters don't have to wait until New Jersey visits ESA to boo D-Will. You can sign up for this charity event and boo him there. If you're good you can even chuck a ball at his head.

Lol. I don't think anyone was planning to follow him around in his day-to-day life.
Good for both of them. It's laudable of them to do it.

That is pretty neat both of them are coming back. Makes you wonder if either really planned on leaving (circumstance obviously leaned in the direction that made it more likely they did).

Trading Deron is Utah's way of putting a pouty superstar in 'time out'. Once he realizes the Nets suck, he'll re-sign with Utah with a better attitude.

I still really like Deron though.

Great for both of them. Obviously the Jazz were really stupid to let Korver go, and much more stupid for letting Matthews go, and even more stupid yet for thinking Raja Bell was somehow worth any kind of millions, let alone 10 of them....
The collective of these stupid moves is why Jerry Sloan left, and why DWill became a malcontent that needed to be traded....
Oh well. Very cool of both those guys to come back to the state to continue a tradition they started.

Re: D-Will and Korver return to Utah for Charity Dodgeball
While I've always generally agreed with the Jazz's reasoning for trading Deron, I thought it was a bit unfair that, after the trade, Greg Miller basically said it boiled down to Deron needing a bigger market. Deron always seemed to be invested in and attached to Utah's community and the fact that he and Korver are bringing the dodgeball tournament back supports that notion. Beyond that, for all of his other flaws, Deron never seemed like the type of guy who's all that concerned with playing in a big market; he always seemed a lot more concerned with winning
Even if Deron's all-consuming desire to win sometimes manifests itself as more of a flaw than a positive attribute (see last season), I feel like that desire would have played a much bigger role in him choosing to leave Utah than him wanting to play in a bigger market than Utah (if, in an alternate universe where we did not trade him, that is the decision he ended up making).
I realize this digression from the topic at hand is longer than anybody will or should want to read, but I just thought it was annoying that Miller tried to pass off the blame for the Jazz's inability to build a situation attractive enough for Deron to choose to stay (though I will say that the Jazz absolutely made an effort to do so and that I truly thought that effort would pay the desired dividends) by saying Deron needed a bigger market. This seemed like a quasi-appropriate place to bring that up and, without anything current to talk about in the NBA world, I got a bit carried away.

Re: D-Will and Korver return to Utah for Charity Dodgeball
My recollection is that Greg just said he thought there was a good chance Deron would leave; I don't remember him mentioning market size as a reason. If he did, though, I'd agree that's a little off-base. Deron was out the door -- no question in my mind -- but it wasn't because Salt Lake City didn't have enough bright lights for him.

The part where Greg talks about the trade and says he thought Deron needed a bigger market starts at about 3:10. I agree that Deron was almost certainly going to leave and I know that Greg and company have stated other reasons why that was the case and why they made the trade, but that quote still irritates me a little bit. It's obviously not a big deal, though.

Ah, yeah, there it is. We don't know what Greg knows, but I've never gotten the "big market vibe" from Deron. He wasn't pleased about being overlooked, I guess, but it seemed like that just motivated him more than anything.

^^Sounds like Greg Miller just trying to justify the move and pass the buck on the organization's responsibility for fielding a non-competitive team that was strapped for cash....

The only reason it's still here is because they couldn't figure out a way to move it in time.
Pretty awkward...
I really wanted to go this year but I don't know enough people who wanted to pay the money for it. Lame.
