Steph Curry for Kanter??

Post#1 » by Jazzy13 » Mon Sep 19, 2011 10:09 pm

Ive been discussing this with a buddy of mine and Im kind of torn on this one.

Im a huge Curry fan and think he would fit in nicely with our core. He may not be pass first but he is an adequate PG and may be a nice option since Hayward can handle it also.

I was down on Kanter after the exhibition gms but with the way he improved during tournament has me really excited about the guy.

What do you guys think? Obviously something will have to be done with Harris.

Is this a bad trade for Utah?

Is this even feasible?

Yes.....
Not an unfair trade, just a gut feeling on how good Kanter may become.

I don't see the Warriors giving the trade serious consideration. I'd certainly take a long, hard look at it, though. He's a phenomenal shooter and a competent ball-hander, two things that would be of use. We'd also be inclined to put the ball in Hayward's hands a little more, which can only mean good things, in my opinion.

Too big of a gamble for Golden State. You only gamble with assets who you want gone or have their own questions.

I'd do it. If nothing else you could in and out Curry for a #2. Jazz need help on the wing.

GS is not trading Curry for any rookie straight up.

I can see them offering this deal which we should reject because Lee's contract is ugly.

Kanter/Jefferson/GS Pick/Protected Future 1st

Curry is undersized and a defensive liability. He's a good shooter who is crafty coming off screens, but I'm not really psyched about him being on the Jazz. I'd rather see the Jazz get a complete player like Brad Beal in the next draft.

I would do it. GS probably wouldn't. Its an odd mixture, but I think Curry will be a guy who blossoms slowly and becomes dominant later in his career. Just a gut feeling on him.

And Golden State has been looking for quality size since....well, it seems like forever.

I have a feeling that Steph's ceiling is a Joe Dumars type. Pretty damn good, but a role player none the less. Kanter, despite having proven nothing yet, has a higher ceiling, but not a higher ceiling compared to the possible basement. Neither team really wants to play this game.

This violates one of the two draft no-no's....never trade big for small. Seeing how Kanter is raw and has upside, and Curry has likely hit his ceiling or close to it...I'd be surprised if Golden State didnt do this trade and struggle to keep a straight face while signing off on it.....

How about for Millsap?

GS can have two of the most over-achieving players in the league with Lee and Millsap

Absolutely do it.

He's an above average starting caliber player who is still young, has a ton of upside, and looks like he has the head, and the heart to achieve his ceiling.

I like Kanter, and I think he could be a star, but Curry is way more of a sure thing at a position we are lacking at.

18/6 on 48%/44%/94%.

Curry-Favors would be a nasty combination. I'd do it.

Any deal including Curry would likely have to include Devin harris, here's what i came up with:

GSW gets: Devin Harris (9 million expiring) + Enes Kanter (4 million assumption)
Utah gets: Stephen Curry (2 yrs, 6 million) + Andris Biedrins (2 yrs, 18 million

I dont see GSW even considering unless Utah takes on Biedrins contract. I do think GSW would be interested in Harris though, his size allows Ellis to defend PG's and not get torched from the 2 spot

That would leave Utah with this:

Al Jefferson - Andris Biedrins - Memo
Favors - Millsap - Evans
Hayward - cheap AK?
Burks - Miles - Bell
Curry - Price

Utah now has Memo's large expiring, Millsap or Jefferson, Raja bell to go for an all-star 2 and then have Biedrins expiring the next season

Why would Utah do this ^^^^? I think Kanter is the type of talent they would hope to get with that expiring money anyway. Why just trade that away??? We have him for less money for the long haul, and Harris is going to be much better this next yr than most give him credit for.
Not to mention that there is a few good PG's coming out this next yr that the Jazz could get that may be every bit as good as Curry, for free....
