Wow.

Uninformed players bowing to the will of the agents. This will have MAJOR repercussions when the league eventually re-opens for business. No doubt the NBA League Office will tailor all future negotiations with the newly anointed "Trade Association" in such a way to diminish the agents' influence on the manner in which L business is conducted. Not to mention each share will diminish significantly as the entire pie shrivels in direct proportion with fans' increasing apathy and scorn.

F the players and the NBA! My favorite sports is no longer my favorite sport and now college basketball rules. I WILL NEVER go to another NBA game or buy NBA geer.

Technically speaking the NBPA didn't decertify. They issued a disclaimer of interest, effectively removing the union from the bargaining process. From 30,000 ft. I think they're roughly the same thing, but I'm sure we'll hear more about the differences during what I can only assume will be a long legal battle.

This is a complete sham.

The union practically forced a decertification without ever taking a vote or distributing the latest proposal to the masses. I can't believe they're actually going to try and pull this off... if I'm a middle class player, I'd be looking into suing the union or at the least testifying against them in court. They didn't properly represent the majority of players throughout this entire bargaining process nor did they keep them substantially informed. I'd be surprised if we didn't see some players take a stand against the union.

I seriously hope all current contracts get voided and that they players lose every battle in the courts (which they will). I hope the owners squeeze every last bit of power and money out of them until they have practically nothing left. Reap what you sow a-holes.

Honestly, I have no idea how the players legitimately think they'll beat the NBA in court. They just blew the only chance at taking the most valuable offer they're gonna get. morons.

This is so ridiculous that they cant agree. Loooooong time fan and very disappointed in owners and players.

I was for the players at first but when they are unwilling to take a deal that guarantees their contacts for millions of dollars, when I have had to take pay cuts in the last three years, I wish I had any kind of guarantee monies in my name. I think the players are stuck on their high horse and need a slap of reality because I can guarantee I wont be spending a dime on any kind of NBA or NBPA. Screw them all what a joke this has all become.

I think the owners have noone to blame but themselves for giving out terrible contracts and losing money for those reasons.......

BUT, the major difference between them and the players, which the players are too dumb to grasp, the owners are risking their money, the players are guaranteed to make money no matter how badly the league does overall......

I wonder how these morons would feel if their paychecks suddenly depended on the profitability of the league......

Exactly!!!! That's why the players needed to take this deal. Now they seem like they are entitled to these pay checks. Bull Crap!!!! Players need to wake up a realize that we love you but are not in love with you. At the end of the day I just want to come home and watch a competitive basketball game between professional athletes and drink a beer and not have to listen to this crap about how the players aren't going to be able to afford that ivory back scratch-er that they are a customer to getting. Grow up and realize who actually writes your checks. That goes for both players and owners.

If all of the current player contracts are voided and the players become free agents, will the Jazz lose their young talents? (ie. Favors)
How many of the Jazz players will move to other teams?
How hard will it be for the Jazz to attract free agents?

I don't mind admitting that I am a little worried that this will hurt the Jazz, and other small market teams for a long time.

When the new CBA is agreed upon, whenever that will be, the rosters will be restored as they were before the lockout..... No players, that weren't free agents are going to be allowed to switch teams......

Now what would be funny is if with the union dissolved, contracts lost their "guarantee" and teams could opt to terminate them without compensation. I'd have a hard time believing guys with these huge mistake contracts wouldn't get waived (Arenas, Lewis, Rip, etc.). We'd see how happy those guys were then....

My hope is that when the owners win the case in court that allows them to start voiding contracts, that they will start methodically eliminating contracts throughout the league to make a statement and to really put the squeeze on the players.

Has anyone been able to figure out the logic behind the players strategy? I've read every article about it and pondered it since the announcement and I still have no idea what could possibly be going through their heads right now...

They don't have a strategy...... It's a bunch of uneducated, pissed off kids, doing what Billy Hunter advised them to do...... That's all this is......

This isn't really about the players or Hunter. Hunter certainly went with the disclaimer to preserve his salary, but this whole thing is a chess match between the agents and the owners. All of the public faces are just puppets.

I do believe its Hunters fault. He is just trying to get one last good pay day just like Raja did with the Jazz. It doesnt matter who you have to kick down to get what you want, how Bell blew of Bryant. It all comes down to straight up greed on every ones part. THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPEN. The players should have voted it down with amendments made on terms to accept the deal and not dismember your union.
