To me the biggest question is how will the 2012 DRAFT order go next yr with no season???
With two potential lotto picks, in a very deep draft, this order could change the future of the Jazz for yrs to come. If a 3 yr average is taken than the Jazz have no picks at all. This has been talked about and sucks for the Jazz.

So what do you think will happen?

There won't be a draft....... Unless there's a season......

First there is at least a 60% or better chance there will be a season. Probably a short one. The players aren't willing to lose $2 billion in salary over the minor system issues. This is about saving face and declaring victory. For the owners, it's about showing the players that guys like LeBron and Anthony don't run the league. But none of that is worth talking about.

There will be a 2012 draft--season or not. Stern has said so, but declined to give any details saying the NBA hasn't officially decided what it will do if there is no season. So that too isn't worth discussing. No one will know how the draft is going to be conducted until the CBA is worked out. There has to be a CBA in place before draft rules can be specified.

I have a hard time believing Stern will be able to get an agreement between the owners about how to do the draft, if there's no season.......

Take the combined record from each team from the last 3 years and give the lottery for the 14 worst teams. I like this idea for a couple reasons. 1. Gives rhyme to reason and doesn't give those teams (you know who) a flat chance of slipping in and getting lucky. 2. It will give the teams that aren't use to winning a great opportunity to make something happen with 3 years of lottery picks, whether they trade or develop them gives them a future. I think with this formula I think the Jazz would pick 15 or 16.

I really hope they just start the season without the draft. The 3 year accumulated would be a huge advantage for the Knicks and really bad for previously successful teams like the Cavs and Jazz. I've even seen weighted results, with more give from the preveious season and less from two and three years ago, and Utah still picks outside the lotto.

3 Years of lottery picks??? I think you misunderstood that. Anyway, I believe our pick is lottery protected. If it's 15 or 16, then we lose it to the Wolves.

And that's exactly why I don't think Stern will be able to get an agreement out of the owners......

What can possible lead you to conclude this?

The NHL lockout weighted draft put the Penguins in dynasty mode. The Wizards would make out like bandits under the same scenario in the NBA, having gotten Wall two years ago and Vesley this season + a for sure top-5 pick again.

I did not misunderstand that, just miss worded it, teams dont have 3 lotto picks but will have them three years in a row but only a handleful of the crappy team ie: Wizards, Nets, Wolves so on so forth where those handful of teams will have 3 consecutive years with lottery picks. This whole lock out is about making it a more competitive league. I would rather see the Wizards win a championship then the Lakers, Spurs, Celtics, Heat, Bulls and the Pistons. Beside last year those are the only teams that have won a championship in the last , what 20 years? Dallas had to have a high payroll of 91.5 million in salary to win the championship last year.

I think if the season is canceled Jazz look to lose their own first to pay off an old debt. However, I'm not sure if the GS pick gets conveyed to the Jazz or not. GS will be right in the 7-8 range depending on how the calculations are done so it's a possibility that the Jazz could go from potentially having two lotto picks to zero first rounders.

I'm hoping if we lose our own first we end up picking #8 with the GS pick. That'd take a lot of the sting out of it. If we lose both picks to the stupid lockout it's going to be a(n) effing disaster.

Yea we'd be really shafted without a season. It sounded like the weighted system got the broadest support amongst the owners, naturally it's also the option that screws the jazz the most. I'm just hoping for games by January.

There'd be a draft, and there are ways to make it more fair to avoid a team like the Knicks getting a lottery pick. Have a system where no team who made the playoffs last year qualifies for the top 15, but still weight the 15-30 pick.
