Watson
Price
Kirilenko
Elson
Fesenko
And for how much? I saw the new deal had some changes to the MLE and some other sorts of considerations like it. Who's coming back?

I would love to see Watson back.
Kirilenko coming back for a reduced price isn't so bad.
Price sucks, Elson sucks, Fesenko sucks.

Kirilenko signed a 3yr deal, I doubt he has any opt out option this early.
EDIT: Nevermind, he has an opt out clause. I would love for him to come back for a reasonable price.

So this is who the Jazz currently have under payroll:
Player 2011/12
Al Jefferson $14,000,000
Mehmet Okur $10,890,000
Devin Harris $9,319,000
Paul Millsap $6,700,000
Derrick Favors $4,443,360
CJ Miles $3,700,000
Enes Kanter $3,552,100
Raja Bell $3,240,000
Gordon Hayward $2,532,960
Alec Burks $1,736,100
Jeremy Evans $788,872
I heard there would be an amnesty rule in the new CBA, so we can get rid of one bad contract. Raja Bell or Mehmet Okur would seem like the top two options. Bell has two freaking years left (including 2011-12). Okur has an expiring, but I can't see him attracting too many teams with his health issues.

Okur has been playing well in Europe. There's no reason to amnesty him. The Jazz won't use the amnesty because it's too expensive. You have to pay out the contract and pay the player(s) that replace the guy you cut.

Via ESPN:
In 2011, according to sources close to the negotiations, there will be significant cap relief in addition to tax relief: 75 percent of a player's contract value will not count against the salary cap when shed via amnesty.
You might be right, that a player still has to be, even though it provides cap room for a team. Still Okur is owed $10.9M, that's about $8M that you would get in cap space if you let him go, plus you don't have to pay luxury tax either.

Not sure what the status is on Fesenko's knee but I'd love to have him back (even though there's very little or no chance now with Kanter..)
But FOR SURE Watson is a high priority!

I didn't think of the luxury tax implications.

Yeah, without signing any additional players, the Jazz are about 3 million over the cap. Ofcourse the treshold is normally like $12 million over the cap, so we are still pretty safe, but we can't sign anyone outside of the minimum and MLE when over the cap so dropping Okur would atleast give us about $5-6M to play with.

I don't see why the Jazz would pay Memo NOT to play of them. If you don't want him or the contract, then trade him. Paying him to play somewhere else wouldn't make any sense to me. It's not like we are Orlando and Memo is Arenas. If they use it it will be on Raja.

Good points. Second that.

Unless the Jazz find a compelling need for the cap space right now Memo will be on the team. He gets his money, he is a good locker and community guy, and he is back to 100% it sounds like.
They already need to add at least 2 players to get to 13 (If that stays the same as far as a minimum) and can have up to 15.

I agree to not let Memo go IF you're not going to sign a good FA, but you do let him go if there is a player who agrees to sign.

I wonder who we would sign that would be better than Okur. He's not necessary at his position, but he looks like he's going to be very effective again. And even if we don't need a big, we desperately need his 3 point shooting.

If Memo is healthy, and it sounds like he is. It is a no brainer to keep him.
Like somebody already said we desperately need his three point shooting.
How much more effective can Jefferson be with Memo spreading the floor?

Watson and AK if we can afford it...

Some sources are saying that AK is interested in signing with the following teams: LA Lakers, LA Clippers, New Jersey Nets, Orlando Magic and the Utah Jazz.
Where do the Jazz land in the order of preferences?

If he has any desire to win a Chip, last. If he just wants to live here and keep his family here, first.
I don't think he will be back. I think it will demand too much money.

What are the chances Earl Watson would sign for the veteran's minimum? Some guys understand the value of loyalty, sacrifice, and trying to be a part of something instead of chasing paper on the NBA tour. I think Watson could be one of those guys.
