Looks like the Jazz will be playing Portland twice for preseason.
There is also a open scrimmage on Dec. 17th

Personally I was hoping that our two preseason games would not be against another team in the division.

I think they're trying to keep travel down to a bare minimum due to the very limited amount of time.
Jefferson.....Jefferson.....Jefferson....

Which means the Jazz play someone a mere 800 miles away.

Re: Preseason vs Portland & open scrimmage
Well, it seems to me like the Jazz sort of got the short end of the stick here, but it is still related to the desire to keep travel distances short.
With the Clippers and Lakers playing each other, and the Warriors and Kings playing each other, the NBA had to figure out what to do with the Nuggets, Suns, Jazz and Blazers.
In that situation, having PHX and Den face off and the Jazz and Blazers face off makes sense.

That will be a good opportunity for Portland to scout some potential players to chase during the next free agencies.
