Jazz want to sign athletic shooter

Post#1 » by HolyToledo » Thu Dec 8, 2011 5:52 pm

KOC says Jazz want an "athletic shooter". Interesting that he says we are not rebuilding but seems clear to me that is what we are doing. My search of possibilities include: Ones in bold the only one I would sign even though I doubt Utah is their first choice.

1) Jamal Crawford
2) Anthony Parker
3) Rasual Butler
4) Caron Butler
5) J. R. Smith
6) Aaron Affalo
7) Reggie Williams
8) Mike Dunleavy
9) Shannon Brown
10) James Jones

11) Jason Richardson
12) Sonny Weems
13) Nick Young

He cant shoot. He is a pure driver to the hoop that needs to work on his outside shot. I see Nachbar maybe the guy as a 7-8 man on the team.

Burks can shoot. To say that he can't is just going off of what the rumors are and not watching him, or understanding his situation and what he has been working on everyday since he got out of school. Even Hayward and CJ both have said different...

Burks can shoot in the same manner that CJ can shoot in that he misses 70% of his jumpers.

Burks can shoot. But, I'd like to see Reggie Williams in a Jazz uniform.

Not sure why everyone is saying Burks can shoot when he wasn't a very good outside shooter for his entire college career... just because you guys saw him shoot lights out in a charity game doesn't mean he can shoot.

That being said, I believe he will become a good shooter but we need a reliable and proven outside shooter right now that we can depend on.

I still have hopes that the Jazz are the dark horse contenders for signing Marcus Thornton.

I really like Reggie Williams, we can get him at a bargain, he lit us up with a lot of 3's when GS played us at home both times.

He didn't shoot lights out in a charity game, he shot lights out in every game he played this summer. Even if he's not facing tough defense there I think it's proof that he's capable from distance. Looking at his college percentage and drawing a conclusion would be like looking at Gordon Hayward's college percentage and claiming he isn't a shooter. And Burks had less help at Colorado than Hayward did at Butler.

I don't think you can get him at a bargain. He's not exactly a well-kept secret at this point. I would put him with guys like Thornton and Afflalo. You'll be stuck in a bidding war with other teams.

Heyward is a better shooter than Burks and Heyward is an average shooter at best. Heyward and Burks strenghts are that they are athletic while able to handle the ball. Shooting would be both of their biggest weaknesses.

New rumor: Jazz in the hunt for Josh Howard

I have a hard time believing this, but it's out there.

Hayward shot 43% from the three point line last year...... That's not average by any stretch of imagination.......

Who is Heyward? Hayward is a good shooter. Any statistic would tell you that. Advanced or otherwise.

Wrong. Gordon Hayward shot 47% from 3 last year. As well as 48.5% overall. That's pretty obscene for a wing.
