CP3 to Lakers

Post#1 » by StocktonShorts » Fri Dec 9, 2011 12:29 am

... just makes me miss D-Will. Could you imagine Jazz/Lakers games with the added D-Will/CP3 element?

Ya, that would have been something else.

I'm not buying into this deal for the Lakers like everyone else is. Size wins championships and the Lakers just traded away their two bigs who are responsible for winning their most recent championships. Does anyone really believe that Andrew Bynum can be the big man anchor for a championship team? I would be much more scared of a Kobe, Odom, Gasol, Bynum lineup than a CP3, Kobe and Bynum one. Unless the Lakers make another move for an elite big man, I don't think they're any closer to being the champs again.

"Word on the street" is that they think they can also pull off a trade centered around Dwight Howard and Andrew Bynum. I'm not sure I put much stock in that, though. Lakers got worse here, in my personal opinion, even though Paul is obviously a better individual player than Gasol and Odom.

Not a great deal unless they get Howard.

If they get Howard, **** the NBA and it's owners who claimed the lockout was to improve mid level teams ability to compete.

I really can't see them pulling off a deal for Howard too. Bynum just doesn't have that kind of value, despite what the Lakers and fans think. Unless they snooker (Thanks Billy) a third team into a lopsided deal then it's not going to happen.

Lol, my three least favorite teams all got trolled extremely hard in one quick swoop.

The Lakers, Hornets and Rockets all got slapped by the rest or the NBA tonight and I've never been happier.

I'm glad the Lakers got screwed, but this could be viewed as collusion.

The thing that doesn't jive is that the league 'owns' the Hornets. That is a conflict of interests if the owners can go to Stern and get him to lean on what's left of the Hornets organization to kill the trade.

If the Hornets aren't able to get anything for Paul, and he leaves next summer, they end up with nothing.

Stern wants to sell the Hornets, not have them owned by the league.

There is a rumor going around that CP3 isn't reporting to the Hornets training camp tomorrow. Some sources have said he is on a flight tonight to Utah and plans to be at the practice facility early to answer asinine questions about why he wants to play in Utah. The answer to that of course is so he can piss on D-Will and show the league who the best PG is.

I have also heard this. Can't wait! Wonder if that is why Keith has been invited to camp. To really push CP3!

What on earth does that have to do with right now? That's good and fine that he wants to sell them, but at the moment the League DOES own the Hornets.

I don't think you get how messed up this move by Stern really is. I agree in principle that a player shouldn't dictate where he gets traded, but that doesn't exactly give Stern the right to nix a trade for a player that was originally deemed clear for trade.

He's likely not going to be traded the entire season now. NO will lose him next summer, no question. They will lose him for nothing. Screwing the Lakers and Rockets isn't worth bombing NO back to the stone age as far as their player assets are concerned.

I think the trade was vetoed because the Lakers were going to save 40 million in salary. They should have had to take more salary back in the trade. I also think Stern was in the hot seat when the Lakers got Pau Gasol in the trade with Memphis. He didn't want to go through any more insider trading rumors.

The funny thing is, if it was the Jazz or the Bobcats or some other team that's making this deal for CP3 and it gets blocked... no one cares. It's just because it's the Lakers that everyone is freaking out.
