Forum Poll for Player of the Game?

Post#1 » by StocktonShorts » Wed Dec 14, 2011 4:39 pm

In addition to the game threads this year, what do you all think of adding a poll to vote on a player of the game? Then at the end of the year we can take the top 2-3 guys who won the most player of the game awards and vote on a player of the season.

Good idea? Bad idea? Meh idea?

As long as the vote takes place in the post game thread.

Ok, I use to create them, so I could do it.... but....

I have some questions.
1st We know that players of the game should be Al, Millsap, Harris, Favors or Hayward.
Maybe Okur can steal some.... but it's difficult to make a poll if you have to put every player, and it's unfair not to put all the players, because you don't know if Kanter, Burks, Evans, Watson or Tinsley will have a great game.
Plus, to put the whole roster every game thread it's a lot of time (if you want to put graphics, stats, pics as I do, there's a lot of time too)

So, how do you want to do it?
Delaney and JF1971 can edit my post, but I don't know if they will want/can to create it just after the game (Games began at 3:00 AM in my country so I don't use to watch it live)

Well, the nominees shoul be like 3-5 and it should be obvious who they are.

How about the top 5 players you listed, and then an option for "other"? I imagine the "other" will usually be pretty obvious. I don't see MULTIPLE players not listed as being Player of the Game nominees.

Its simple, just do a post-game thread with a poll. Or add the poll in after the game (if that's possible?)

Or that other idea is good too

This is what I was thinking. Don't pick the nominees ahead of time. There will be games where the winner is someone unexpected.

I agree with those who said
- Picking 5-6 potential winners as nominees should be pretty easy
- Creating the poll after the game makes more sense.

Also, in the event that the best player accidentally isn't included in the poll, people will just protest ("why the **** isn't <insert player> in the poll? I vote for him anyway!"). Don't worry too much about the feasability of that kind of poll.

Maybe I'm alone here, but I'd like to do Player of the Game for wins and Detriment of the Game for losses (players who played far below what they should have) so we can see a net pos/neg of our guys at the end of the year

This is good because CJ will feel like he is winning something.

The thing is, I can't do it after the game, because it's 6 AM in my country. If Delaney or JF can edit my post it's ok.
Then, this is if I do thread games, but if someone want to do it and then want to add polls, it's time to step down.

I think a new thread after the game will be ok. Im just hoping it gets a standardized format so its easy to recognize.

I'll try to do the post-game PoTG thread and I'll standardize it so if I miss a game someone else can do it in a similar format.
