http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_ ... jazz-agreeWelcome to the UTAH JAZZ Josh Howard.
Great to see another veteran with great experience to help with the youth movement. Should be interested to see what he has to offer after having the last two seasons destroyed due to injury. This year is going to be the most interesting season to start in a very long time. Cannot wait to see how this goes. GO JAZZ!!!!

A very interesting pick up since he has a history of playing very well as well as a history of doing marjuana. Not a typical Jazz type pickup, but I would have picked him up bc he serves a need of outside shooting at the 3 as well as veteran experience at a low cost.
I guess this means Millsap probably not playing the 3 and Heyward more of the 2. Ak-47 as expected is gone.

The best thing about the retreads KOC is bringing in:
1. Cheap
2. Short contracts
If Hayward, Harris and Favors play to their potential the Jazz have a good team and these guys won't matter much.
If Hayward, Harris and Favors don't come through then a high priced free agent would not have mattered. The Jazz don't make the playoffs and have a shot at a high draft pick (maybe 2) again.
Like the KOC strategy. Hope at least one these guys still has game.

Not too exciting, probably means no AK, which is disappointing, but he should at least be starting quality and it means CJ will be coming off the bench if he hasn't improved.

The only way to know if CJ has improved is to watch him play 10 games to see:
1. If his shot selection is better
2. If his shooting is consistent
3. If he's figured out he's not a 3pt shooter
4. If he going inside at least twice for every outside shot

heres some links to signing Howard:
http://www.deseretnews.com/article/7002 ... .html?pg=2http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/jazz/53126 ... r.html.cspLocked on Sports has called this signing as KOC version of Money Ball ..I agree that is what it is and what needs to be done.

Unusual season, unusual strategies.

I don't like this signing at all. I hope he gets cut before the regular season. The dude is often injured and has had his share of off court problems. I'd rather see Hayward get big minutes and CJ get the very limited minutes at SF.

Low risk with decent upside. Typical Jazz move. Very little chance its relevant in the overall scheme of things.
Move along.

this team is going to be fun to watch, and if nothing else howard adds depth. He's cheap and our team is looking pretty good! You can't complain about a one year rental especially if you saw Raja Bell play last year. I love the new Kevin O'Connor!

Same KOC, different coach and younger players with no star hostaging.

Even if he doesn't make a huge impact on games what do you think is going through Hayward's and CJ's head right now? Probably concerned about their playing time now? Well they have to really earn it. They are both competitors and now they are going to have to prove even more that they deserve minutes. I like the signing for that aspect even if that is all it turns out to be.
As much as I like Hayward and the younger guys I want to win and the best way to win is to play the best players not necessarily those that have the most potential. If Howard ends up being the best player then he should play. As we already know KOC will not go into a "re build" mode and just play the young guys. OKC did that because that is all they had. it aint gonna happen unless those young guys step up and are the best player at that position and I think this signing might just help us find out quicker who is going to step up.

Well, here are a few possibilities.
1. Great, I can't play 40 minutes a night with 66 games in 125 days
2. Dude's got knee problems. Wonder what happens if he takes a hard fall.
3. Hey, you think coach has been lying to me.
4. He makes less money than me so who gives a sh***
5. Oh, sh***

let's not pretend that howard is a good 3-point shooter now

Like erudite said, low risk, decent upside.
If he sucks, he's gone, no harm done, if he's good, maybe you have the inside track to being him back.
Oh, and I also think this means no Jamaal Tinsley.
NBA philosophy, have one knucklehead, you can contain him, two knuckelheads feed off one another.
Look for Keith McLeod to be #3 PG on the team.

If we carry a third PG that isn't Ronnie Price, I really won't understand why. Especially with Burks and Hayward.

I think it's not very probable that the Jazz management would be so interested in Tinsley OR Howard, individually, if they had such a bad impression of them. If they are considered important assets, they will probably be in the roster, regardless if there's another "knucklehead" already there or not.

I like your knucklehead theory. Unfortunately the Jazz have had lone knuckleheads in the past who have managed to make a lot of headlines before being quietly escorted out of town. But I would agree in general that 2 makes bad chemistry.
The problem is Tinsley is a decent PG. So there's a high probability he will stick. Maybe KOC will assign some staffers to intervene when the knucklehead karma kicks in.

I'm not sure I'm really buying the Tinsley Flu theory, unless he comes out and really wows in the two preseason games I think his time with the Jazz is done.
Also, Colby, if the Jazz don't bring in Ronnie Price as the third PG it's because he's already signed with Phoenix for the year.
