ROOT Sports on Comcast

Post#1 » by retiredcoach » Thu Dec 22, 2011 8:13 pm

Last night Comcast subscribers didn't see the Jazz game in real time. They got to watch a bunch of has been tennis players.

At first I thought this was due to Comcast refusing to pay for all 64 games that ROOT is broadcasting, which has been the case in the past. Previously Comcast blacked out 13 games.

Last night's blackout of the 7 pm game was due to technical issues and not contract issues.

This year Comcast is suppose to carry all the Jazz games shown on ROOT and not black out any. I used the phrase suppose to carry as Comcast has issues sometimes.

The good news is there aren't suppose to be any blackouts. That's the point.

I've been trying to decide between buying League Pass Broadband or getting Comcast w/Root. Last night may have tipped me over towards not signing a deal with Comcast

I nearly lost it last night. I just about kicked a hole through my television. Close call, Comcast.

Unless you want to watch 40 games a week, the League Pass is expensive. In addition, they sometimes blackout games. You better make sure they've got what you think you're getting.

Comcast is fine with Root. Like I said last night was a technical issue they couldn't get resolved until later. That's why the 10 pm broadcast was shown.

I recall they block out all the jazz games because of root sports broadcasting it in the mountain west area. So if you signing up just to see the jazz don't!

If I go that route it will be "League Pass Choice", for around $110 for the season as opposed to the two year contract I'd have to sign with Comcast at around $30/month.

The blackout issue isn't a concern, since I'm able to appear outside of the Root sports TV market

If you are in a different market LP is the only way... we will discuss.

It is reliable compared to unspoken means which are frustrating) and last year used mostly Jazz local feeds.

Being from R.I. i do league pass every year. Last year was awsome because Matty and the Jazz crew alot. In past year is alternated more. Now the will give you the option most nights for the home or away broadcast teams. Its my only way of watch the Jazz and i have never had a problem with it. I will add I like the new ROOT thing. Gives the Jazz a different song then all the other generic fsn stations.

I like the Jazz on Root Sports, but the theme song is too college sportsish, the FSN NBA theme is one of the best.

The update to the on-screen graphics/theme is nice. Looks much more modern, much less KJZZ-y.
