This guy is a good assistant coach but is not head coach material. In the GB he's being called the worst head coach in the NBA. In the 80's and 90's the Jazz were known for hard nosed defense. The Jazz need to bring in someone to bring that back (e.g. Jeff Van Gundy, Bill Laimbeer).

I would love Laimbeer. I don't like JVG.
I would rather be known as a hard nosed or dirty team than a clown team.

I give Utah/Corbin 3 more games to suck.

prediction: corbin has till the middle of the 12-13 season to get the team above .500 consistently. that will be the standard for this noob-coach.

something bad will have to happen beyond the games for corbin to be gone before the 12-13 season.

I'm not ready to give up on him yet (and it's a given that management will allow him 1-2 years to figure things out), but I'm not encouraged by what I've seen of him. He seems pretty lost out there. We were spoiled by so many years of Sloan, though, so it's probably not fair to judge him against his predecessor.

This. Let's have a couple hard fouls, take a few suspensions, and let every opposing player in the league know that if you drive the lane on us you're going to get f***ed up.

If they have an easy bucket, foul them and foul them hard. Make the other player earn it from the line and think twice about whether the bruises are worth it.

Not only that, but this ship was half-way sunk already last year with Sloan and Deron still here. People tend to forget that our early season success included a bunch of games where we got blown out early and then came back because the other team started coasting. Lots of red flags long before the whole thing collapsed. This team has some major flaws, and needs to have the roster re-worked before we can really start expecting Ty to do much.

Like players, it take time for coaches to build chemistry with their players and develop their strategies. He's essentially building his own philosophy right now, taking down a philosophy Jerry Sloan instilled into the Jazz for 20+ years. New defense, new offense, along with a brand new young team. Scott Brooks and Erik Spoelstra both looked very lost early on in their careers too, but look at how much they've developed as coaches over time. They both have been able to put their players into positions to succeed much better over time, and build that relationship with their players.

how about jefferson as well?

i actually feel sorry for the corbin, we traded away a top 10 player and tell him it's okay because we have big time players al jefferson and devin harris ready to lead this young team to greatness. most coaches would fail in his situation.

They hardly told him there was anybody ready to "lead this young team to greatness." Seems to me management has set a historically low expectation (this is to be expected after fielding established playoff contenders for the better part of three decades) for Ty. If he wins 8 or 9 games this year, I can't see them firing him.

So, I don't feel bad for Ty at all. He wanted the job; he's got it. Let's see if he's up to the task.

Whatever Tyrone makes us a lock for the top 5 this draft. I'd be compeltely ok with his incompetence if he just played the young guys more. Hopefully KOC forces his hand via some trades. Is anyone else worried that the player development coach we hired has a resume whose biggest accomplished seems to be player development coach for the bobcats, who I'm pretty sure have never developed a player ever?

I think it's unfair to come to this conclusion already, but I do agree that his rotations, line-ups, and lack of playing rookies is something that has had everyone scratching their heads.

It's just frustrating to see what direction this team is going, is anyone here honestly thinking we're a playoff team right now? Nope, I would rather watch this team starting the rookies, 2nd year guys than having to see Raja Bell, Al Jefferson, etc. The direction of this team is puzzling. Maybe people disagree, but I would rather watch this team and buy more tickets if we went the route of what the Oklahoma City Thunder did. Just throw the rookies and Favors/Hayward into the fire and see how we do.

That's just how big my balls are, coach. I'm not afraid of makeup, and I realize that it was, in fact, Clint Eastwood that drove that Cadillac.
