AL Jefferson
not sure what direction the Jazz are going in or at what stage they are at. But, if AL Jefferson was dealt what would you all be looking for in return?
also what players would you like to see traded?

Re: AL Jefferson
We'd want the best young player/pick we could get in return. We're pretty set in the post, and (imo) at shooting guard, so a point guard and small forward would be nice. Devin Harris, Paul Millsap, CJ Miles and Raja Bell are all candidates to be moved as well.

We'd be looking for expiring contracts and picks......
We'd like to see Raja Bell, and I for one wouldn't mind seeing Miles and Harris traded for assets......

Re: AL Jefferson
I absolutely despise Al Jefferson as a player. I mean, he's a nice guy, good heart, but his game just frustrates me to no end.
I tried being optimistic about him all season last year. And hey-- he does put up pretty good numbers. But give any Jazz man as many shots as Jefferson takes, and they'll put up similar numbers.
This season, I just don't think I can continue my optimism. When Jefferson is on the court, its not the Utah Jazz, it's Al Jefferson featuring the Utah Jazz. Al Jefferson is a black hole. Luckily for us, his shot's actually been warm lately. Unlucky for us, he's going to cool off eventually, yet he's still gonna take the same amount of shots per game. Along with his ridiculous volume shooting, the guy is hitting shots below 50%, which is not good-- especially for a center. Along with his ridiculous volume of shots, he refuses to pass out of double or triple team.
People will say 'Well, the other 4 guys just stop and don't cut when Jefferson has the ball!' Well, here's why-- because if they do, he's just going to chuck it up anyway. I know, I know, they need to cut anyway, but I'm still more angry at Jefferson when he refuses to pass.
With rebounding, he doesn't even care to box people out. He'll jump for a rebound, but he doesn't fight for them. He has a good number of rpg, but I don't credit any of them to actual rebounding skills, like Favors and Kanter have shown.
In the end, the team is slower and less energetic with Jefferson on the court. He doesn't run the court when the ball is turned over, and he only shows bursts of energy when we need them the least. Put him on the bench or trade his ass away. I know neither of these things will happen any time soon, but I can't wait to celebrate when the day comes.
I very much dislike Al Jefferson as a Jazz man.

But yeah, for a trade?
Al Jefferson for a third string C and a pick or two.

I think Al's played well this year... 0-6 without him.
Edit: Hahah obviously 1-5... we did win one without him already

Harris and Jefferson for a good pass firest PG (such as Lowery or Rondo) is what we want....I would even throw in the GSW #1 and take back a couple of bad contracts pick for Rondo or Lowery
Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

Re: AL Jefferson
You're not getting Lowry or Rondo out of Jefferson. Certainly not by himself. Maybe not even with sweetener.
I think we have enough good young players. When you add in the GS pick and the Jazz likely high selection this year, that's 6 high quality young prospects on the roster next year. More than enough to move on with. I can see two ways to go with a Jefferson, Millsap or Harris trade:
1) Future assets. This would be a draft pick that would not be delivered any time in the next 3 years. Its a real shot in the arm for a contending team to get a nice young player added to the mix after you see how it plays out and where your weak points are. Imagine, for example, if OKC had a lottery selection coming up in 2012 that they had stashed away 4 years back. The Jazz can't handle too much more youth on this team, but in a few years when our nucleus has solidified and we've begun to establish ourselves, a mid-1st or even late lottery pick could do wonders for us.
2) Older vets who can fit in. We need some players who are past their primes, reasonably priced, but who provide leadership and experience for our young players. These need to be players that are no longer able to play primary roles for contending teams. Steve Nash, for example, would be my ideal fit here, though he will likely want to go somewhere he can chase a ring. Other types that I would love include Shane Battier, Manu Ginobili (next year), Ray Allen (next year), Chauncey Billups, Tim Duncan (next year), Tayshaun Prince, or Vince Carter (just kidding).
Those are the types of players we need to add to this cast of youngsters so that their growth will be facilitated the best way possible. If we're trading with the Hawks, I would take a look at Teague, but I would prefer swapping Jefferson for Josh Smith, whom we would then likely spin in a different direction for a veteran SF.

David Locke basically bashes Al Jefferson by using stats. Big Al shoots 40% on any shot which is bisically not a dunk or layup. He is also has poor post up stats. Hear the audio as its very telling how ineffective Al Jefferson is for the Jazz. Even Locke suggests that Big Al should come off the bench which might help his play.

This was the kind of analysis I was afraid we weren't going to get from Locke. Perhaps my fears of him censoring himself are unwarranted.

Big Al=Low BB IQ; his biggest problem is his limited knowledge of basketball, he is two or three steps behind everyone, he is running the floor better this year, but he starts the game mentally gassed and who wouldn't be when you're like him and have only been playing one way since hs without him believing people might ever expect something different than a black hole in a time warp--, sometimes i think he might get going for a few minutes, but then i realize the game is on tape delay and he just got a minute to play a little catch up save some face, but even by tape delay, he is dumb as dead at the end of games...

Don't you think that Jefferson might have more to learn from Kanter and Favors, as far as coming to the game with the asset of an open mind. Jefferson acts like hes down on himself, but its never too late for a player as talented as him even if it can't be fun for Kanter and Favors to have to beat him out in the end which I am sure will happen as they are already pages ahead of him in the playbook.

I am pissed because from my perspective I can't be sure if it is tape delay or jeffersons low bbiq=his ass poor awareness on court.

Favors, Jefferson, Kanter, Millsap conform highly competitive and capable group to have at 4-5. Kanter and Favors are in their rookie contracts, Millsap's in a good one and Jefferson can play ball and put up his numbers... and he's only 27. They shouldn't touch this group unless the offer is too much to dismiss.
