They obviously put Shumpert in the dunk contest to have Lin included in the asg festivities.. its a shame for Jeremy

Chase Budinger is a joke, he's not even the best dunker on the Rockets. I don't mind everyone else... but ya, he got screwed but only because he never plays. They don't want to put some no name guy out there that no one has a clue about. I heard it's only one round of dunks though and it's all fan voted... so in other words, even if he made it, he would have lost to Shumpert and Lin.

It's gonna be a joke this year.

I love how all the Jazz people on twitter complaining that Jeremy Evans didn't get it are saying how the contestants who were picked aren't household names.

Yet they're all 5x more famous than Evans.

Both the 3 point contest and Dunk contest are gonna be really super freaking lame. I mean, there's always an element of pretense and obnoxiousness involved...but now it's all gonna be applied to Chase Budinger.

^^^This. Although whoever decided on who was in the dunk contest or not didnt see the Gerald Wallace dunk from the preseason. That was type 2 nasty. Next level sh*t.

I remember Budinger as a pretty good dunker, although I suspect he's there mostly as the token white guy since he doesn't have a lot of very impressive NBA in-game dunks in his resume. My best guess would be that Evans just doesn't play enough to be considered. He's not even in the regular rotation. Shame, because he's a spectacular dunker, but it is what it is.

As for the contest, everyone loves to say how bad it is and how little it means but I usually still enjoy watching it. I only wish there were no props, no teammates passing the ball and so on. Just the player, the ball and the basket. Trying too hard to go for the "original" dunk has really brought along way too much stupid **** during the years. I'd rather watch an "unoriginal" dunk if it's still spectacular and well executed.

I'm disappointing but I don't think it's so bad. To anyone who isn't a Jazz fan he's a nobody. I don't like Shumpert being in. If they are going for star power go for star power. Not market power.
