Watson being overused

Post#1 » by FJS » Tue Feb 21, 2012 7:46 pm

I think lately Corbin is wrong using Watson so many minutes.
In a few games he was way better than Harris, but right now Harris is playing much better than him, and we make some runs with our starters and then bury them with our bench.
Watson is not scoring, is not passing, is not creating by others.
With that lineup, I would rather Tinsley. Sure he is not going to score, but he can pass and create for other players who need good positions to score (Kanter, Favors)

In February he is 2.6 ppg, 25 %FG, 15.8 3pt%, 4.9 APG, 1.4 rpg, 1,0 spg, 1.8 TO in 22 min
Harris is 8.5 ppg, 50%, 31% 3pt, 1.1 rpg, 1.4 spg and 2.4 TO in 26.

It's not a big deal, but if Harris it's not the answer in our SL, Watson is playing worse and worse lately.

He is fine to play 15 min per night, with scorers around, but not used in that way.

With Harris' play as of late, it's not too concerning. He is finally meshing with the starting five (the P&R with Al looks excellent) and doing the things that we thought he would do. He's certainly not performing up to expectations, but I think he is actually earning more minutes. Over the last five games he is averaging 9 and 4 in 22 minutes....that's right about where you want him to be - and with some more playing time everything should even back out for the "committee of point guards."

I think Watson has been playing hurt as his play has become worse. No on the team wants to win more than him. It may be time for Harris to get a bulk of the minutes.

He is hurting the team.
We are losing, so it's better for him and the team to heal, because we're not being better with him in the floor.

I don't understand why Ty hasn't been using Tinsley more since Earl got injured. It is clear that Earl is not 100%, and he isn't a good enough player that he is effective playing at 80% or whatever it might be.

Tinsley has shown that he can be more than just a 3rd string PG. He passed the ball extremely effectively when he filled in at GS. Give him some time!

Like I have said Harris biggest enemy is Corbin. When your coach doesn't believe in you and give you minutes it hurts your confidence and basketball is 60% confidence and 40% skill.

Yeah I've been listening to KFAN all day for weeks and they've said the same thing, watson's ankle is still swollen and he's dealing with it even after that miracle laser treatment.

With the All star break coming up - i'd like to see Tinsley take over in the #2 slot and let watson get a full rest or take minutes away.
