He's hardly seen the floor this year but when he has, he's been very productive. Everyone here loves him and he seems to have a bright future with the team. He's a very good slasher, has surprisingly good passing, he's good in transition and his defense has improved a lot with each game he plays.

He's made great progress so far. I thought he'd be a bonehead CJ Miles type at first, but unlike CJ Miles, he's shown actual progress.

Right now Burks' problem is his floor game. He just doesn't get it yet, but it appears that over the next two years he'll develop well.

The good news is Burks has a scorer's mentality so he's going to score well in the NBA. The question is his possession productivity which isn't all that good right now. However, there's a good chance that will improve along with the floor game.

If we could combine Hayward with Burks, the Jazz would have one great SG. Right now Hayward is missing Burks' scoring mindset and Burks' is missing Hayward's floor game.

Exactly!

Burks progress in half a shortened season>than CJ's progress over seven years.

I've noticed he has trouble beating guys off the dribble which seems to hurt him a lot. He really needs to settle down and look to make a good play but I love his aggressiveness.

I think he can beat guys off the dribble just fine, the problem he's having is finishing once he's beaten them. He struggles to finish through contact at times once he gets by his man.

Really? I know he can, it just seems like he runs into his defender a lot and then fumbles the ball around.

Burks is quick to fill any gap in the defense he sees.

The problem is the defense in the NBA is a lot faster than it was in college. A lot of the seams Burks sees close up before he can get through them.

He has to adjust his game to compensate for the speed.

Hopefully Burks gets more minutes as the season progresses, maybe trading CJ or Howard would help as well. I think Burks can be a Brandon Roy type player.

I was a big fan of him during the draft and thought you guys got a steal. I wish he was playing more though, I don't see what the harm would be in him getting more playing time, I think he's very important for your future.

He's learning... Remember last night there was a semi fast break and he has the ball.. He pulled it out and set up the offense. Earlier in the year that was a guaranteed charge every time

He should be getting steady minutes for the rest of the season. Even more so if we manage to dump CJ somewhere

Interesting comparison. I love the way Burks plays, but I have been wondering where he fits, and what kind of player he can become. I think it is actually hard to find other players to compare him to. I've noticed he is especially small for a 2. Seems like he is the same size and body type as Rondo, but possesses different skills. The Kings announcers actually compared him to Tyreke Evans, which is probably the best comparison I've heard. (Of course he has a long ways to go to be like Tyreke) Anyone else have thoughts on best case/worse case player comparisons for him?

He is skinny, but not short for a SG. Burks is 6'6", Rondo is like 6'1".

Wow, he looks smaller than 6'6" to me. And Rondo looks taller!

tyreke evans is a bad comp. evans uses his size and strength whereas burks doesn't have any of that.

Burks' standing reach is 8'7.5''. Hayward's is 8'7'' (per DX's pre-draft measurements).

He might be the best guard on our team. He's already our only go to scorer at either the PG or SG position.

Anyone else that you think is a better comparison? I see alot of Evans because he is more likely to score by using quickness to get to the hoop than by shooting jumpers. Also, I think it is fair to say Tyreke is a smaller, quicker swingman, than say a Dwayne Wade, Kobe Bryant or Brandon Roy.

I guess there may not be another player in the league similar to Burks, which is fine in my book.
