I know that it is easy for us spend the Jazz's money for them, but Oden is a very good player when he is healthy.
I can hear it already -- "when he is healthy is the key."
However; consider this. The Jazz are one of the least injury prone teams in the league. It is because of their strength and conditioning coaches. So since Oden can be had so cheaply and the jazz have the best chance of keeping him healthy, well ...

His surgery won't allow him to play until well into next year, and if I remember right, this contract is expiring. And with so many bigs already on the roster, two young ones with superstar potential in particular, I don't personally feel bringing in Oden accomplishes much anyway.

You can never have too many bigs! And if you do then they are by far the most easily tradeable asset. Look at Okur.

Just so you know Oden will miss the next season as well. The soonest he'll be back assuming nothing goes wrong would the 2013-2014 season.

That's not a bad time frame. Favors and Kanter should be going strong, Jefferson will be gone and Millsap might be ready for a sixth man role or maybe he's gone too.

I'll be interested to see how he recovers without the benefit of the Portland staff's zero-gravity strength & conditioning program.

Oden could have his own section of the ESA for wounded war veterans and disabled children.....think of the marketing!
I kid, I kid.....

Any potential Oden had is long gone.

After 5 years of saying "if he only stays healthy" the Blazers have given up. Or maybe it is the fact that he is needing his THIRD microfracture surgery. One is usually enough to end a career. Kenyon Martin is the only player to keep playing after two (one to each knee). But NOBODY has recovered and played after 3. I don't see the Jazz rolling the dice on that--whether or not he would be a cheap addition.
PS: Greg Oden has never played an entire season in those 5 years--unless you span 2 years then he has played 82 games once--and was a borderline all-star. He is one of those cases where everyone will think what could have been...

I really feel sorry for the guy, seriously, but come on.
Everytime I watch KD playing, I think that kid could be playing for Portland. Instead they got Oden.
The funniest thing ever is reading some Blazers staff saying something like he wouldn't do anything diferent today. He would still pick Oden over Duran. I think Portland was the only team that day that would pick Oden.
Some people never learn.

Oden was undeniably the best pick for Portland at the time.

He just needs to let the Suns doctors work their magic on him.
