Let's hear it for Burks....scoring in double figures in 6 of the last 9 games.

His height and jumping ability give us a super good, athletic big guard who can ake it to the hoop.....and finish.

When Alec goes in for banking layup.....he releases the ball at the 10-11 foot mark easaily.....to high for most people to block it.

#9 Alec Burks : Utah Jazz

I kept waiting for Burks to break out. He's been producing all season in his limited action, but coach Tyrone Corbin has bumped up his playing time, and the rookie out of Colorado finally makes his debut on the Ladder. In March, Burks is averaging 20.4 minutes (his minutes have risen each month), averaging 9.0 points on 46.7 percent shooting. He's scored in double digits in his last three games (averaging 13.3 points) and six of his last nine. Burks told the Salt Lake Tribune he's "just trying to play aggressive. That's what I come in the game to do: play with energy." And if Burks continues to play like he did in a rout of the Nets, Corbin will have to keep giving him big minutes. "He's continuing to grow, man. And we expect him to continue to get better every night on the floor," Corbin said.

Burks was money during the 4th quarter in our victory against the Lakers.

You can see several parts ...see all his 4th quarter plays.

B was driving for layups, dunking, getting the AND1, hitting a three......going 6-6 in the4th and outplaying Kobi Bryant.

Can Burks be a 17ppg scorer? I think so. He has a 50-50 chance of being a big scorer.

This is the Universe's way of balancing out after afflicting us with Miles for the past several years. If you think about it, he's the exact opposite of CJ.

CJ has always been expected to shoot well, so he jacks up 3's (and even misses a lot of wide open ones) and shoots at a horrible clip. He has to make a concerted effort to remember to drive to the hoop more often, where he's more effective yet still unstable. He doesn't do the little things consistently...only occasionally rebounding, dishing the ball, playing good D and getting to the line.

Burks was expected to be a mediocre if not just plain bad shooter, but his jumper has been surprisingly good. Even so, getting to the line is in Alec's DNA...how often do you see a rookie getting the call so much on the drive, including a healthy dose of and-1's? His defense is outstanding and he does all the little things. The thing I love the most is how damn efficient he seems to be...I'd like to compare him to Kevin Martin but it seems like K-Mart needs the ball in his hands a majority of the time in order to be effective. Burks gets a little ahead of himself sometimes, but he seems to be able to score within the flow of the offense and in compliment to the team dynamic. In other words, he can be a big #'s guy on a GOOD team.

For those who wanted to bring back CJ, did you think we'd keep him through the whole year?

I like Burks, he'll have a long nba career
