Jazz sign PG Blake Ahearn

Post#1 » by carrottop12 » Mon Apr 9, 2012 10:11 pm

Good shooter, had a few stints in the bigs. Sounds like Watson got pretty jacked. We need the three point shooting so good be a good fit.

Im ok with the signing but why does this team insist on having 3 point guards on their roster. Burks could be an emergency PG if necessary. Seems like a waste of money.

Because he's a terrible decision maker and PG is about making decisions.

Ahearn couldn't be worse than what Earl was giving us, lost a lot of confidence in him

Looking back it probably would have been best if Earl just shut it down the first time he got injured. Felt like he was playing injured and it hurt his game a lot.

Blake Ahern has been a perenial D-leaguer. He is very interesting as a baketball player, he has had many short stints in the NBA and has continued to be one of the best D-League scorers year after year. Someone needs to do a story on this kid, he continues to fight to try to find a spot on any NBA roster. He does make more during his 10 day contract than he does during an entire year on a developmental league roster.
I would love to see him get an entire year at the NBA level and see if he can have any consistency over that period of time. Hopefully he can make something happen in Utah.

I agree with you but Ahern never going to play unless Tinsely or Harris get hurt. If they got hurt you pick up Ahern if the Jazz still in playoff race. I dont see the need for him in pratice. Just seems like a waste of money for the last 8 games of the season, but its not my money so I guess I dont mind it much.

I love me some D-Leaguers.

They have everything to gain and nothing to lose, and will play their heart out until their 10-day contracts are over.

Let's see if this guy can give us a little spark for the end of the season.

If this guy can truly hit the three with consistency I think he will get time right away! Harpring said he is hitting 40 percent right now.

I admit this about Ahern (1) he can shoot and (2) he can make free throws. Thats two things he can do which is two things more than Carroll can do. I would play him over Carroll already. Instead of Linsanity maybe we would have some Ahernmania!

You realize Carroll is an SF/PF combo and Ahearn is a PG/SG combo right?

Right now Carroll is backing up where CJ and possibly Evans were playing. Ahearn is essentially taking over Tinsley's spot who moved up to the back up PG.

This.

So Ahearn just had a baby girl. Maybe this is his kairos, his single most glaring opportunity to shine. He certainly should have the motivation...hopefully he gets a few minutes and impresses, ala Sunny-D Gaines.

After reading that article, I very badly want this guy to stick and succeed. These stories always hook me.

There are no longer positions in basketball. Bigs shoot 3s, short guys like Millsap post up, etc. You can play Millsap at your 3 tonight and when he is out play Hayward at the 3 so Carroll doesnt see the court. When Hayward is at the 3 then you could put Ahearn at SG thus Ahearn instead of Carroll is a valid argument.
