Playoff Breakdown

Post#1 » by HolyToledo » Mon Apr 16, 2012 9:29 pm

Jazz need to win the remaining 5 games to go 36-30 to have any chance to make the playoffs. If they end up tied with Houston then Jazz are in bc Jazz beat them 2 out of 3. If the Jazz end up tied with the Suns only, then Suns are in bc they beat the Jazz 2 out of 3. If a 3 way tie then the league goes to a couple of tie breakers (head to head best record of the 3 teams --Jazz 3-3, Suns 4-3, and Rockets 3-4. Seems unfair bc of unbalanced schedule. Suns would be in. If they say thats too unfair then they go to conference records which have the Suns in as well.

Basically, Jazz need to win all 5 and Suns need to lose 2 games (one to the Jazz plus another game). Suns do play Okla City at home, as well as Denver, Clippers, and Spurs at home so I think it will happen. Houston needs to lose 2 games (possible losses are vs. Denver tonight, @ Dallas, @ Miami, and @ New Orleans. ) I think Houston loses to Miami and Dallas if not Denver as well tonight.

I do believe the Jazz do make the playoffs if we win 5 in a row but tonight's game is the most difficult one to get! If we get in then we play the Spurs or Okla City, maybe we get 1 game. Playoffs get our young guys extra practice time, meaningfull minutes, and a taste of the Playoffs but costs us a good pick. Tough decision. I say play hard and play to win and let it decide itself.
Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

One down 4 to go? right? and three are at home. i think we can win these last four. and end on a good note. as long as we play with the same desire we played dallas it will almost be a sure thing! i am excited for the post season and i hope we are there!

Um yeah the Suns will lose at least one of those games. On NBA.com right now there's a poll that like 70 percent of people say the Suns will get the spot. I'm not buying it...there best chance is for the Rockets and Jazz to lose a bunch of their remaining games, because they are going to have a tough time winning theirs.

I wouldn't trust polls. People just like Steve Nash.

Suns have a hard road, but we've also choked at key points with easy games too, so I'm still pretty nervous. I'm glad I'm so engaged in this playoff run as to be antsy, though. I'm more invested this year than I was during the last couple Booz/Deron runs.

These are exciting times.

If the Jazz win out and Huston lose one more game the Jazz make the cut... that's the only way I can envision the Jazz in postseason.
