Does Corbin Deserve COY?

Post#1 » by jazzrock » Thu Apr 19, 2012 2:43 pm

I know its been brought up earlier in the year, but we are now at the end of the season and in crunch time. With three games left, we now control our own destiny. This was a team that was supposed to finish in the bottom 5 of the league to some accounts. If we make the playoffs, should Corbin be COY?

Its somewhat like the scenario after the season Karl and John left. The Jazz were supposed to be the worst team in history and finished a game out of the playoffs. I think if the Jazz made the playoffs that year, Jerry woulda been COY. Same thing here. There are other good coaches out there this year. But, if we make the playoffs, I think it should go to Corbin based on his ability to get the most out of this team that nobody anticipated would be in this situation at the end of the year.

No way, I think the Jazz underachieved.

No, but he will get some votes. Bulls guy deserves it followed by Spurs coach.

Thibideau is hands down the most important coach in the NBA. He won't win it, because he did last year, but he deserves it.

As for Corbin - no. He does not deserve consideration.

My list is:

1a: Popovich
1b: Thibs
2: Vogel
15: Corbin

He's learning, but he's made a lot of player management mistakes this year and his game management is still sub par.

Corbin doesnt deserve COY but he has done a great job this yr.
The Jazz still play the right way.

I think he sticks with the Jazz for a while.

Well said Happy Prole that's about right...Corbin's not been as bad as some on this board say that he is, but coach of the year is a stretch.

He's done a good job which is better than some expected from him (or give him credit for) this year--but good doesn't win COY.

I think he did a very good job for a first year head coach, there are still some issues that probably need to be worked out, but I'm happy thus far.

So far I think he's been fine. Real test will be next year.
