The Future of Devin Harris

It's no secret that I think Devin Harris gets a bit of a bad rap. I think he's a quality player who could start on a championship team if he was surrounded by the right kind of talent. But does he have the right personnel around him to complement his strengths and cover his weaknesses? Where does he go from here?

If Hayward continues to develop as I think he will (most notably in the play-making area), and we get another wing capable of putting the ball on the floor a little and hitting some threes, I think Harris could work out for a few years yet. I could also see him in a Jason Terry 6th man role for us, where he floats between the 1 and 2.

I think the popular opinion is to ship him out, so I'm interested to see the results here. I think there's legitimate arguments to make both ways.

I'd just add that he was the only guy besides Carroll and Favors who actually looked like he was fighting for his life last night.

I love Harris, I just don't see him as a long-term Jazz team leading PG. You take the upgrade if you can find it, otherwise just let him expire.

Devin Harris does a few things really well, and he's a decent starting PG. In my opinion though, there are two thing he doesn't do: he doesn't bring every night (or even most nights) and he doesn't make his teammates any better. Say what you will about Deron, but he always got the ball to his teammates in a way that gave them an advantage. Devin doesn't do that. I don't think we should trade him unless we can upgrade the position, but I don't think he's a good fit here either.

We need a better playmaker, because our young C and PF need someone to them to create plays to score.
Al Jefferson don't need that, he can score if you put the ball near the basket, but I feel Favors would be a 20 ppg if he would play 36 min a night and with a Deron, Paul , Rondo kind of pf.

Completely agree. Our young guys are still too raw offensively and would really benefit from a pure PG. I'd love to keep Devin around as a scoring punch off the bench, as I think that role would really fit his style, but I don't know where you get that starting PG.

now is the time to find a young tallented point to grow with the young core.
If you can't find the right guy, Hang on to Harris.

Im not a harris fan. An upgrade at PG is needed. And I think a veteran PG is best. A proven leader that likes to distribute and makes guys better....
