Are Gordon Hayward and Alec Burks going to be our future starting sg and sf combo or are we gonna find someone else to fill that position combo or are they set to be the starters for years to come? There's questions as to what position are best suited for each player like can either player play sf, which one is the odd man out if they can't play together?

I think they can play togheter, but they still have to grow a lot.

Hayward has started those two seasons slowy then he finished strong. Sometimes he seems really great, but then he dissapears like he did in playoffs.

Burks has shown he is instant offense. He needs to know when he has to share the ball, but if he is in the court, you know he is gonna score and go to the FT line.

I think you're right and I can see Burks being a 6th man in the mold of James Harden due to his instant offense.

I've wondered the same thing, fortunately, the Jazz have 2 more seasons to figure this out.

If this becomes the case, then they are both going to have to be consistent from the 3 point line. I'd prefer Burks in a 6th man role though because of his instant offense. However, if he can develop into a defensive stopper and have a consistent 3 point shot, I'd start him.

I think it depends on who we find as a long term PG solution. If its a distributor who is great with the ball in their hands, then I think we need a better long range shooter at the 2. If its just a defense / scoring PG, I think they both could start.

Also we need Gordon to be more consist from long range as well. He shot a decent percentage this year, but he needs to shoot more and be closer to 40% IMO. Id still like to draft 2s and 3s if we have a pick in a draft without greet PG prospects (like this one, and purportedly the next one) since I'm not willing to bet the farm on a burks / Hayward backcourt.

I'm certainly not sold on Burks being our starting 2 guard with how poor his defense was at times this last year, but I could see him being a great sixth man guy.

I still think Hayward needs to slide over to the 2 spot. His length and size will give him a big advantage over a lot of starting 2 guards on both ends of the floor.

I see them both as Starters next year.

Burks needs to shoot a lot better and get a lot smarter to become a starter/major minute player

We dont have enough pick and roll basket ball for our guys to be effective shooters. Right now its all throw it in hold and throw it out for a contested rush shoot, Too predictable. If we have learned anything from the spurs , this summer our team needs to work on pick and roll and using screens. Our PF and center needs to learn to work eairly and catch the ball closer to the rim. Our guards and wings need to learn how to rub the screens. We need to work on more plays, It get really redundent seeing the same plays over and over. Against a sup par team we can get away with it but against a +.500 team we'd get picked apart. I wish we had the Rocky Mountain Review so I can see how our coaching staff and our rookies work on their game and strategy.
