What would it take (besides a miracle) to entice Steve Nash to Utah?

If the Jazz use the trade exception to front load a contract offer, would that be enough? Would that allow the Jazz to make a higher offer than another team?

How many years on the contract would you be willing to offer him to sign? I am thinking no more than four with team options.

He is apparently looking for a 3 year 21m deal.

Bicycle-friendly drivers, three-point shooters and a coach who knows how to use him. I think Utah is 0 for 3.

You can't use a TPE to sign a free agent. It has to be part of a trade (unless I am completely mistaken). I believe that they could do it as a sign and trade but not sure PHX would do that.

And yes, we would need more and better 3 point shooters.

Plus, we would have to unload Harris somehow.

I would do 3 years 21 million in a heart beat.

My opinion is that is exactly what the Jazz are missing in the offense. They need a passer in the worst way. And Nash is THE best at it in the NBA. If they can find a way to get the ball into the BIG THREE of the Jazz they can win (Al, Favors, Milsap). Who cares about the three... though it would be nice to have Ray Allen too.

Steve Nash, Ray Allen? These guys are at the tail end of their careers. Not the guys I want to throw money at. That third year Nash wants is going to hurt whichever team gives it to him.

Nash is still playing at MVP level.

Ray looks finished.

I would love to get Nash, He would be great for this team, Mabey a sign and trade, Millsap, Harris, and Golden State pick. Give Nash a max 3 year.

MVP level? Even when Nash won his MVPs he wasn't playing at an MVP level. But like Derrick Rose he made a great story.

Don't get me wrong, he's a great player, and he has something left in the tank, and he'd make the Jazz better in the short-term, but that third year is going to be crippling. He'll turn 41 during the final season of a 3-year deal.

I think Stockton was worth 9 million at age 42. Obviously John's a special case, but I don't know that Nash will be a burden at that price in his final year. I'd love to have him, but it's highly unlikely to come to pass.

I believe Stockton turned 41 during his last season.

Stockton was still tremendous when he retired. And Nash is still tremendous now... a top 10 player in the league still. Check out his APM graph:

Is 7 million really too much for an all star? That is "top role player" salary in my opinion. So Nash is only at a role player level now? The money still equals out.

(He's not on a role player level of play)

Anyone that questions what Nash has been doing, even at his age, just flat out doesnt know basketball. If there is a way to get that man on this team without giving up a ton...then do it. You get the double benefit of an elite offensive PG and the growth and development he effects on the young guys around him. We're talking about a guy who made Boris Diaw an All-Star....

This site is full of morons and imbeciles, but at least this guy has his head screwed on right. Anyone not named Hayward is fair game to get Nash here.

Troutbum kindly **** off and go back to Jazzfanz. This site is a sanctuary from the sophomoric culture you helped cultivate over there.

Well, if that isn't an invitation to stick around, I'm not sure what is. Thanks for the warm welcome, I look forward to getting to know you all a lot better.

Yay!

I even found the perfect avatar.

Don't be jealous that my knowledge and pure understanding of the game you so dearly love is head and shoulders above yours. Green is an ugly color on you, my friend.

Well lucky for me I guess that this place isn't full of mindless clowns who weren't popular enough in HS for whatever reason like the other site. So I'm guessing your impact will be negligible. And i'll just put you on ignore if you're annoying anyway.
