Possibly Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson, Kawhi Leonard, Kenneth Faried. And with the exception of Kyrie, none of the other three would be amazing compensation for Big Al. Just pointing out how much people over value the draft.
1 Kyrie Irving
2 Derrick Williams
3 Enes Kanter
4 Tristan Thompson
5 Jonas Valanciunas
6 Jan Vesely
7 Bismack Biyombo
8 Brandon Knight
9 Kemba Walker
10 Jimmer Fredette
11 Klay Thompson
12 Alec Burks
13 Markieff Morris
14 Marcus Morris
15 Kawhi Leonard
16 Nikola Vucevic
17 Iman Shumpert
18 Chris Singleton
19 Tobias Harris
20 Donatas Motiejunas
21 Nolan Smith
22 Kenneth Faried
23 Nikola Mirotic
24 Reggie Jackson
25 Marshon Brooks
26 Jordan Hamilton
27 JaJuan Johnson
28 Norris Cole
29 Cory Joseph
30 Jimmy Butler

I'd throw in Kanter, Burks, Valanciunas and Knight as players I would trade Al for. I'm not saying they're fair value for him. There's a big chance none of those players will ever be as good as him. But you're also trading 1 year of Al for likely 8 years of one of these players, 4 of those with a much cheaper contract, which allows you to bring other good players in. Furthermore, you have more playing time available for Favors and Kanter.
I agree that people overvalue the draft. But unless you think we have a better chance building a contender around Al than around Favors or Kanter, trading him for picks and cap space is not a bad idea at all.

upside and cheap contracts, that's why picks are so valuable

Guarantee if you went to the NY board and posted a trade of Al for Shumpert, they would find a way to shoot you through cyberspace. Point being, it really depends on how you value the player. I doubt alot of these teams would trade their 2012 rookies for Big Al. For that matter, if Al wasnt on our team, would you trade Kanter or Burks for him? I dont think I would trade Kanter or Burks for the likes of say Zach Randolph or David West.

I would trade Big Al for a trade exception. What ever it takes to get him off the team. The Jazz were 4-1 when Big Al didnt play. He is a terrible basketball player.

I can't remember the term, but if we relinquish the Okur Trade Exception (which is likely), and also traded Big Al for a second Trade Exception, then we would have to use the second one an actual player. Otherwise we would be below the new CBA minimum salary, if we tried to also relinquish the second trade exception.
So if we have to pay people that amount, and Big Al is the best we can attract, then why not just keep him?

I was looking for the "Paper Sack" option, but saw none. I wouldn't stuff Big Al up my butt if I had room for a freight train.

You wouldn't stuff Big Al up there, but it sounds like you voluntarily put your own head up there pretty often.

How many of those guys make 15 million a year?
I actually agree that Al is more valuable than people give him credit for, but you have to take into consideration Utah's position, which is we don't need 15 million of our cap taking up space at a position where we are stacked, especially when you consider the fact that his defense negates much of his offensive impact.
Utah already screwed the pooch by not trading him at the deadline. Continuing to hold on to him just means that ownership would rather have a sure playoff road apple, than take a gamble.

Nice comeback! Maybe I'm not going to hate you as much as I thought I was going to.

I would do it for any of the top 5. (Irving, Williams, Kanter, Thompson, Valanciunas)
Probably do Knight, Thompson, Leonard, and Mirotic as well. Maybe even Shumpert.
But I think his actual value should yield more than that. He would be a nice piece on the right team. Next to Anthony Davis, on a team with some shooters, he would be insane. We're stupid if we aren't trying to spin him for Okafor, #10 and another smaller piece.

I'd take Irving, Williams, Kanter and possibly Valanciunas in a trade for Al. I think he takes a bit too much blame for some of the Jazz's problems--e.g., weak outside shooting, erratic pg play, no other go-to players, etc.
